Job Description: The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, security, operation, and maintenance of all database management systems such as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, Access, Sybase, etc.


  • Daily management of mission critical Oracle Databases in highly available distributed environment
  • Architecting, deploying and testing of database centric solutions with high query, low latency requirements
  • Strong understanding of the different storage options used in an Oracle Database(i.e., NAS,SAN,DFS)
  • General responsibilities include maintenance of multiple environments (development, testing, and production), including patching, troubleshooting, object maintenance (e.g. partition, table, index, users/roles) creation/maintenance, space management, database links, and security management
  • Experience in performance tuning of views/tables/materialized views/queries and indexes
  • Experience with backup & recovery strategies using RMAN and data pump utilities.
  • Knowledge & experience in how to recover a database/table/table spaces.
  • Perform operational DBA role who is able to install, configure and support day to day management of database environments utilizing DataGuard and standalone configuration on Windows.
  • Experience installing, configuring and operational support of Oracle 11G
  • Ensure database stability, performance and replication
  • Partner with infrastructure and business teams to meet the needs of the customer and deliver on time with solid, consistent results
  • Work with Development teams on database architecture and schema design
  • Develop expert knowledge of the supported applications.
  • Develop and document procedures, configurations, and deployment plans
  • Test, certify and document new technology features beneficial to support the business
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: An undergraduate degree with a technical major such as Information Technology, MIS, or Computer Science from an accredited institution of higher learning required; minimum five years of experience working as a database administrator required; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to: work from designated office for collaborative/interactive fulfillment of duties; concentrate in an open-office "cubicle" environment; appropriately and directly interact with other staff members and/or outside associates; perform telephone and/or computer work for extended periods of time; operate office equipment such as computer, telephone, and copy/scan/fax machine; attend and participate in meetings via phone, computer, or in person.

  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Oracle
  • Must be self-motivated, innovative and able to handle multiple critical tasks concurrently * Cooperatively work in team environment
  • Extreme attention to detail, critical thinking and process-oriented individual required
  • Excellent ability to partner with application teams to methodically troubleshoot complex poor performing queries and resolve expeditiously.
  • Performing application code refreshes and/or data load/conversions. Developing database objects by creating custom PL/SQL programs for web-based applications. Delivering Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) migrations and data warehousing solutions
  • Familiarity with database operations in a virtualized environment, particularly VMware
  • Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software, hardware and other equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including good grammar, voice and diction.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) required.
