Short Description: This group is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues that involve a variety of technologies such as databases, applications, and servers.

Complete Description:Operations Applications Analysts at company are software detectives. They require strong analytical, technical and communication skills and must be able to build collaborative relationships and negotiate solutions across multiple groups. They must cultivate a working knowledge of the business areas they support and build a solid understanding of the client's existing business processes, key drivers and measures of success. They must be able to see the big picture and understand how complex systems and their connections work together to ensure the delivery of reliable, least-cost energy for all electric customers.

Operations Applications Analysts work closely with IT, Operations and Business Area customers to support department processes, projects, and initiatives. They implement and support system enhancements and initiatives. And, individuals will also work on projects requiring diverse and multi-disciplined complex system maintenance and upgrades, as assigned, to ensure systems, applications and processes are developed and implemented according to prescribed specifications and customer needs.


-Execute application troubleshooting and take independent action to correct problems encountered during systems operations

-Collaborates with Agile Teams in conceptualizing, initiating and developing new software programs and applications to meet business needs

-Work closely with assigned business groups to define application enhancements and requirements

-Identify, define and develop key measurements and develop the process to collect metrics for monitoring

-Oversee translation of best practices and regulatory requirements into IT compliance assurance and ensure processes and standards are in alignment with requirements

-Help align team performance around the ITIL framework

-Provide technical advice and guidelines for each of the core architecture domains (e.g. applications, integrations, data, infrastructure)

-Create integration solutions across multiple systems within the company environment to meet requirements

-Use coding methods for specific programming language to enhance or initiate efficient program execution and performance and to reach optimum hardware utilizations

-Maintain integrity of program logic and coding to meet business requirements

-Tests, debugs, documents and installs modified and new programs to meet business and compliance requirements

-Provide estimation and prioritization of tactical technical and functional enhancements to meet business needs

-Review and analyze reporting data, audit results to identify patterns, trends or issues that require resolution or enhancement

-Identify, define, enhance and monitor execution of controls to ensure compliance to regulatory, tariff or business requirements

-Prioritize and manage backlog work to address and resolve outstanding issues

-Present and explain technical information to diverse audiences in a commonly understood way to transfer knowledge

-Collaborate with customers to capture and understand system quality attributes and identify testing objectives

-Assist with analysis, development, and implementation of processes, procedures, and tools to enable continuously auditable compliance with regulatory standards.

-Utilize multiple advanced analytical techniques such as critical, creative, conceptual and intuitive thinking to analyze moderately high risk situations, generate multiple options and approaches while considering how the solution may change or impact the organization.

-Support inclusion of applicable compliance, quality and process standards within project plan and execution

-Complete all other duties as assigned

-Ability to work a 24x7 on-call schedule


-Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience

-At least one to three years of specific experience in IT with any of the following: application support, software design or development, database design or development, or operating systems

-Previous energy industry experience, preferred

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge


-Knowledge of databases, UNIX or Windows

-Administration skills on a variety of computer platforms (i.e. Windows & LINUX)

-SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting languages


  • 4 Years Intermediate Database skills (understands basic DB concepts, is comfortable writing basic SQL statements)
  • Highly desired : 3 Years System Administration Experience/understanding, troubleshooting OS issues (Linux) Shell scripting, Pulling log files and analyzing logs
  • 3 Years Prior experience debugging Java, Fortran, C# preferred
  • 4 Years Familiarity with Linux and/or Windows in a server environment
  • 3 Years Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills
