Who We Are:

The Wells Fargo Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) Operational Risk Management (ORM) team is responsible for driving the execution and comprehensive view of risk across EIT, instilling a risk management culture where businesses are accountable for understanding and managing their risk. EIT ORM provides First Line of Defense (FLOD) risk management tosupport to drive the execution of the EIT Risk Management Program for our partners, both domestic and international.

What we are looking for:

We have an exciting Senior Operational Risk Consultant opportunity that will cover the technology risk management functions of the Team Member Technologies organization.

This senior consultant position will have responsibilities for helping the Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) Technology Process Risk and Control Program meet our objectives, providing leadership in the performance of program deliverables, working across EIT teams, and transforming the Risk Management function.

The person in this role will be responsible for maintaining a strong technology risk culture, formulating technology risk appetite and tolerances, and establishing / maintaining a program to identify, assess, measure, monitor, control, and report on significant enterprise technology risks.

Consistent with other programs overseen by Corporate Risk, the Technology Risk Program also provides Second Line of Defense (SLOD) oversight to ensure an independent, integrated, and holistic view of Wells Fargo technology risks.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Our environment continues to be one of the heightened standards, raised risk consciousness, and regulatory requirements. As part of the First Line of Defense, this role provides leadership support to ensure that Enterprise Information Technology is accountable for risks associated with its activities, current and emerging risk identification, measurement, assessment, control, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading efforts to effectively identify risks, partnering to develop remediation approaches and controls, and ensuring remediation plans are executed and validated
  • Representing the Team Member Technologies group on all risk matters requiring review, and ensuring all risk management deliverables are met accurately and timely
  • Providing risk management leadership to mature technology processes and provide input to the risk reporting for the group
  • Working across the EIT groups to address emerging and existing risks in the environment
  • Supporting a governance framework to provide transparency, accountability, and escalation of risk management related matters
  • Partnering with Second and Third Line of Defense

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, especially with difficult topics when partnering with senior management. This includes the willingness and ability to question decisions, understand direction, and escalate issues where necessary
  • Program management experience
  • Experience communicating in both written and verbal formats with senior executive-level leaders
  • Demonstrated success influencing business units to identify, formulate, and implement processes / procedures to mitigate risk
  • Past technology experience supporting Desktop Environments or IT Global Helpdesks
  • Experience evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, and controls
  • Experience reviewing and developing risk ratings
  • Experience assessing risk, writing issues, and developing appropriate corrective actions
  • Demonstrated experience with both strategic and tactical approaches to risk management
  • Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and quickly deliver results
  • Demonstrated experience working with other risk management communities
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups including executive management, regulatory examiners, and internal auditors
  • Experience with third party management, technology control functions, technology risk metrics, or technology processes oversight
  • Demonstrated experience with technology lifecycle and governance processes, risk assessments, threat and vulnerabilities, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology environments as it relates to risk issues facing financial institutions today
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or other risk management discipline certification
  • COBIT/PCI experience
