This is an exciting opportunity to join a team and function committed to providing Wells Fargo with world-class technology risk management. The Operational Risk Group continues to build out a world-class technology risk management capability.

The Technology Risk Management Oversight organization is responsible for establishing the strategic direction and management of Wells Fargos enterprise technology risk management program, including developing, approving and maintaining the technology risk management framework. This function will be responsible for maintaining a strong technology risk culture, formulating technology risk appetite and tolerances, and for establishing/maintaining a program to identify, assess, measure, monitor, control and report on significant enterprise technology risks. Consistent with other programs overseen by Corporate Risk, the Technology Risk program provides second-line-of-defense oversight (SLOD) to ensure an independent, integrated, and holistic view of Wells Fargo technology risks.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Prioritizing focus areas and resource assignment to facilitate timely and proactive reporting deliverables
  • Driving analysis of technology and risk information to identify and quantify data components including, but not limited to risk exposure, emerging risk, dollar loss and forecasted risk levels
  • Leading improvement of data collection processes and connecting disparate data sources
  • Conceptualizing and designing data visualization solutions that synthesize complex data concepts to incorporate into reporting
  • Owning the development and use of statistical, mathematical and predictive models using strategic business understanding to build the algorithms, necessary to derive actionable insights from patterns, trends and correlations from within data sets
  • Ensuring proactive leadership execution by staying appraised of all assigned initiatives, and providing analytic out in compelling graphical, numerical and other narrative forms that will allow informed, data-driven decisions to meet business objectives and reduce risk
  • Driving creation of automated data pulls, reporting and other rote activities to enable efficient operations
  • Working with technology domain consultants to integrate their independent observations and point-of-views into SLOD reporting through data driven metrics and reports
  • Performing review of the work products produced by the program/project according to risk program requirements and deadlines
  • Attending steering committees and work groups to ensure appropriate technology risk management coverage
  • Capturing and escalating credible challenges
  • Producing management reporting as applicable
  • Integrating requirements from the broader program/project into existing technology risk management processes (e.g. risk assessments)
  • Effectively collaborating with business partners in the first-line-of-defense (FLOD) and second line of defense (SLOD) in the establishment of new risk management processes for the specific program/project
  • Working with stakeholders to ensure each has the tools, processes and expertise to effectively manage technology risks
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with the line of business, corporate regulatory and operational risk and compliance peers
  • Ensuring that critical programs and projects remain aligned to the technology risk management strategy and functional framework

An example of a critical program/project for which Technology Risk Management Oversight provides independent risk management coverage is through independent monthly monitoring and reporting. Key activities include the use of BI and data analytics tools to analyze technology data, make data correlations and create report visualizations that enable an understanding of risk levels and facilitates needed action. Additional activities may include review and credible challenge of technology reporting solutions, risks/mitigation plans, project status reporting and program/project artifacts used as part of the regulatory reporting process.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will clearly demonstrate the following experience, knowledge and/or abilities:

  • 10+ years data analytic experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, or a combination of the management of a process or business for compliance or operational risk) with data analytics and reporting responsibilities; Advanced Excel, Tableau, R/SAS experience.
  • Degree in computer science, economics, statistics, mathematics or other quantitative field
  • Relevant work experience in collaborative filtering and content-based filtering
  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark,
  • Experience with SQL or other querying languages
  • Knowledge of BCBS239 guidance and compliance with brand standards
  • Experience with BI tools such as Microstrategies
  • Development of processes and procedures
  • Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment
  • Demonstrated information technology experience in areas such as infrastructure management, network management, systems development lifecycle, architecture, and application support and information security to better articulate risk themes in reporting
  • Experience with assessing the adequacy of policies, procedures, processes, and compliance and operational controls in a significantly large and complex organization.
  • Prior experience with tracking, monitoring and implementing corrective actions for Compliance/Operational Risk
  • Knowledge and experience with technology-related regulatory requirements and frameworks including FFIEC,COBIT, COSO, NIST, ISO
