Job Description:


Client is partnering with tech industry giants to develop the next generation of Smart Home integration and adoption. We are undertaking a major IoT endeavor that will mark permanent and lasting changes in the utility industry landscape. We are seeking Node.js Developers who will be responsible for managing and architecting the interchange of data between the server and IoT devices. Their primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. They may also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by co-workers into the application. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is desirable as well.


Responsibilities


- Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic


- Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code


- Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications


- Implementation of security and data protection


- Integration of data storage solutions. This may include databases, key-value stores, blob stores, etc.


Skills And Qualifications


REQUIRED SKILLS


- Strong proficiency with JavaScript.


- Knowledge of Node.js and the Express.js and Passport.js frameworks along with Socket.io.


- Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds.


- Enterprise level experience in EIP Service Integrations


- Deep experience creating Web APIs including REST Services and Microservices.


- User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments


DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


- Understanding accessibility and security compliance including:


o OAuth


o Web/REST/HTTP security


o Cognito


o Identity Providers


- MQ including either Active MQ or IBM MQ.


- Participation in Hackathons and Codeathons.


- Good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors


- Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as HTML5, and CSS3


- Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system


- Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application


- Understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs. desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform


- Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes


- Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests


- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
