We are seeking a Virtualization Engineer. The Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, operating, supporting, and engineering the firm's VMware infrastructure related technologies. The successful candidate will be a team player while still able to work independently, manage their time effectively, and willing to learn new technologies. The qualified candidate will work with other Information Technology team members to ensure continuous operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering & Infrastructure.

responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with all application owners and other IT stakeholders to build and support a scalable, efficient, and stable virtualization infrastructure.
  • Research, plan, design, and implement network technologies using industry best practices to ensure the virtualization infrastructure meets business and technical requirements.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and change management for virtualization operations.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to other IT teams to ensure continued adoption and successful operation of virtualization technologies.
  • Participate as a member of the converged infrastructure and storage teams.
  • Act as backup support for the Storage Engineer.
  • Willingness to complete any additional tasks as assigned.
 
qualifications:

Experience

  • Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience with virtualization technologies in a medium to large organization.
  • Expert knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies, i.e. ESXi, NSX, VSAN, etc.
  • Comprehensive experience troubleshooting virtualization issues that impact user's productivity.
  • Experience and knowledge of automation and scripting technologies, i.e. UCS Director, Chef/Puppet, Python, PowerShell, a strong plus.
  • Possess excellent operational knowledge of Microsoft, Storage (SAN & NAS), and networking technologies to be able provide interoperability support.
  • VCD, VCAP, CCNA certification preferred.

Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential for this position with the ability to work effectively with end-users, IT peers and managers. Individual will work as part of the Information Technology Team providing 24x7 support as needed. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Able to travel to other offices, which might require overnight stays. Travel is typically less than 25%.
