Job Description

The Specialized Services team in Network Engineering has a position open for a Wireless LAN engineer. This position will design and deliver network infrastructure solutions that enable Wells Fargo's lines-of-business to communicate with customers, partners, and applications with the reliability, performance, and efficiency commensurate with their respective business objectives.

This position will design and implement new solutions for deployment into production; based on architecture requirements provided by the Lead Network Planning and Architecture group. This may be project driven or architecture driven. Conducts technology and network assessments, including solutions to enhance or create new business opportunities, integrating multiple technologies. Serves as a data/voice network consultant to internal clients and technical management in all areas of the business to ensure conformity with corporate network architecture. This position is directly aligned to provide wireless local area network solutions in the Access DOMAIN - which is on our strategic roadmap to increase business acuity through mobility and ease of access.

This position will also develop specifications for complex systems, design, and test voice and/or data communications solutions. Designs complex system upgrades. Leads the evaluation of vendor proposals, conducts network studies and traffic analyses,develops network architectures, prepares forecasts of network traffic and capacity, and recommends modifications to the network configurations that reduce costs or improve service. Serves as a technical resource on largescale voice and/or data communications issues.

Must reside in one of the listed locations.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in network operations, network engineering, or a combination of both
  • 5+ years of Network experience
  • 3 + years of experience in technical deployment, configuration, integration and administration of at least one of the following network security technologies: 802.11 wireless authentication, AAA, TACACS, RADIUS, or 802.1x Network Admission Control (NAC)
  • 3+ years of LAN (Local Area Network) experience
  • 3+ years of WAN (Wide Area Network) experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in a large enterprise network organization

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of site survey methodologies, including identifying AP deployment models, antenna types, coverage maps, and roaming solutions for data, voice, and location services
  • Knowledge and understanding of security technologies and concepts including: defense in principles, antivirus, firewall data and Intrusion Detection Systems (Host, network, Wireless)
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology deployment: wireless technology
  • Knowledge and understanding of wireless transport technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology deployment: guides, configuration scripts, and configuration template development
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Cisco Certifications (CCNA/CCNP)

Other Desired Qualifications
  • CWNA, CWSP, CWAP, CWNE Certifications
  • Strong understanding of the following technologies:
  • Thorough knowledge of 802.11b/g/a/n/ac and associated IEEE specifications required.
  • Strong understanding of wireless security WPA2-AES/PSK/802.1x & PKI environments and controller based wireless designs.
  • Experience with wireless BYOD and guest WLANs, RADIUS, and EtherIP (EoIP),
  • Routing and switching, specifically IEEE 802.3ad, Etherchannel, Power over Ethernet (PoE), OSPF, BGP, Spanning Tree,QoS to support the wireless solution
  • Strong understanding of Network Management tools / SNMP / Aruba Airwave 8.x and Prime Infrastructure (PI) for wireless management
  • 3.x & Aruba 7240 Series Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC)
  • Cisco 5500, 7500, 8500 Series Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC)
  • 3600/3700 series Cisco Access Points
  • Cisco FlexConnect
  • Aruba 300 Series Campus APs and Instant APs
  • Various PoE switching platforms to support Access Points (APs)
  • Wireless Intrusion Detection / Prevention (WIDS/WIPS)
  • Cisco Mobility Services Engine
  • Linux OS knowledge especially relating to networking and security.
  • 4G LTE Wireless Video, Voice and Data Services
  • VSAT Networks

Some understanding of the following technologies desired:

  • Experience with designing large enterprise secure perimeter networks
  • HPNA for device management
  • Hands on experience with the following Cisco platforms:
  • IPv6
  • Private VLANs
  • Network Security (firewalls, IDS)
  • Load balancing and application delivery
  • IPSec (L2L, DMVPN, MPLS IPSec)
  • Cisco CRS
  • Virtualization RSVP
  • Network device security and hardening
  • Regular Expressions

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed or scheduled
