    The Network Architect is a subject matter expert in data communications and is responsible for the design, implementation, and delivery of effective and secure network systems, infrastructure and related technologies. In addition, this individual has broad knowledge of information technology at large, with a firm understanding of related disciplines and how they interoperate with network hardware and software devices. The Network Architect will be responsible for leading design, implementation, day-to-day operations, and troubleshooting efforts and will be directly accountable for the results. The Network Architect's deep and broad knowledge enables a holistic understanding of the technology environment.


    • Serves as key subject matter expert in the field of TCP/IP based data communications: Maintains a deep understanding of voice, video, and data network convergence in the MFS enterprise network and storage and data network convergence in the MFS data centers.
    • Provides technical support to ensure the ongoing efficient, secure, and reliable operations of related MFS network systems and infrastructure.
    • Proactively develops and maintains strong knowledge of MFS network systems and their related components, and makes recommendations to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of these systems as appropriate. This includes proactive performance tuning and capacity analysis to ensure MFS is maximizing its technology investment.
    • Leverages technology to automate manual tasks, and seeks to improve efficiency wherever practicable and appropriate.
    • Enforces and maintains MFS Information Security controls, procedures, and standards. Aids in the development of controls, procedures and standards as required for network systems and infrastructure.
    • Receives broad goals and overall objectives from management and proactively establishes and implements the methods to attain them.
    • Leads projects and is directly accountable for meeting project objectives including timelines and budgeting.
    • Serves as mentor to other technical team members, and presents technology briefings to IT and business line management as required.


    • Strong subject matter expertise in the networking field, with familiarity with other related information technologies. Solid data communications experience working in an enterprise network environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate well with members of senior management.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field. Six or more (6+) years of related Information Technology experience
    • Enterprise networking experience in the financial services industry.
    • LAN/WAN, and remote office network operations experience: wired and wireless, Knowledge of VoIP operations: voice, video, and conferencing
    • Experience in developing and maintaining documentation, prepares the appropriate project documentation and understands the change control processes.
    • Hands-on experience in configuration, deployment, management, problem solving and troubleshooting of Cisco routers/switches and Cisco ISE (NAC) systems in a data center and enterprise network which includes Non-US offices.
    • In-depth knowledge and experience in Cisco routing/switching systems (IOS, NX-OS) and protocol operations in an enterprise network: (Routing: BGP and OSPF) (TCP/IP: ARP/RARP, DNS/DHCP, FTP/SFTP, HSRP/VRRP, HTTP/HTTPS, ICMP, IPSEC, L2TP, NTP, PIM, SCP, SSH, TACACS/LDAP/RADIUS, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, TLS, UDP, WCCP)
    • Experience with Cisco Nexus platforms, NX-OS, Router/Switch Best Practices
    • Experience with QoS & MPLS technologies
    • Experience with SDN, SD-WAN, Leaf-spine data center architecture is a plus Cisco certifications or equivalent technical engineering qualification required.
    • Hands-on experience in network management platforms/tools including Wireshark.
    • Hands-on experience in Network Firewall technology, IDS/IPS Security technology, DNS/DHCP IP Management, and Load Balancing Platforms.
    • Understanding of MS Active Directory
    • Hands-on experience in Secure Remote Access Networks and Mobile End User Support
    • Experience working with network patching and network cross connect best practices and inventory control.
    • Multi-tasking skills Can work in 7/24 operational mode, Proven skills troubleshooting complex network outages Identify inefficiencies and make suggestions for process improvements.
    • Collaborate with other IT and business groups, readily share information with others.
    • Experience staying abreast of current network technologies, make recommendations based on knowledge and research.
    • Work on complex problems and provide innovative suggestions for solutions. E
    • Experience designing, building and upgrading large data center networks including build-outs with Cisco, Aruba, Infoblox, Riverbed, Forcepoint, and Check Point firewall deployments
    • In-depth knowledge of and experience in mitigating network security issues, along with general IT skills so to assist in working with other technical teams on security issues
    • The ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management will be key to this roles.
