Job Title: Multimedia Systems Support Specialist Reports to (Title): Service Desk Manager


  1. Provide service oriented support of faculty, staff and students on audiovisual technologies
  2. Multi-tasks efficiently and applies good judgment in setting priorities while committing to customer satisfaction and process improvement
  3. Assists in the planning, design, installation and support of new audiovisual technologies
  4. Educates faculty, staff and students in a variety of formats (online, face to face, groups, documentation, recorded videos) on new and preexisting audiovisual technology
  5. Serves as the owner and first point of contact for all audiovisual equipment issues while establishing and maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with IT and vendors on resolutions
  6. Computer knowledge including troubleshooting and critical thinking skills to resolve conflicts between computers and AV technologies
  7. Tests and suggests technology solutions to problems proposed by instructors
  8. Compiles technical documentation and creates a knowledge-base of how-to's and FAQs
  9. Compiles an asset inventory of AV technologies and technical diagrams of cabling and configurations
  10. Assists in the audiovisual support and/or recording of events and other broadcasts, as well as the production of audio and video media related to those events which will include some evening and weekend hours
  11. Assists faculty, staff and students with recordings in the multimedia recording rooms and lecture capture classrooms as needed




  • Associates Degree in multimedia and/or computers or equivalent experience


  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in multimedia support to include technologies such as Crestron, Winnov, SVSI, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with audio visual systems and common video and sound setups
  • Experience installing and replacing audiovisual related hardware
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with computer support and troubleshooting
  • Excellent customer service skills including written and verbal communication
  • Experience developing and facilitating user training sessions
  • Ability to handle multiple customer requests with a genuine sense of urgency
  • Desire to learn and work with new technologies and follow up on technical trends and news


  • Previous higher education, classroom and/or event audiovisual support experience
  • Minimum 3 years in IT related support position
  • Crestron programming experience
