Risk and Finance CIO organization provides technology to several lines of businesses including Risk, Compliance, Finance, Audit and Legal with a combined technology spend in excess of $500+MM annually and is an 1100+ person global organization.

Corporate Model Risk Technology supports Model Inventory, Governance and Validation for all Models developed within Wells Fargo to adhere to the regulatory requirements. CMRT is part of Enterprise Business Technology team within Wells Fargos Enterprise Information Technology Division.

This position directly manages the team responsible for development and support of the Model Risk Technologies and applications. Technologies used are suite of state-of-the-art Quants tools which include tools like Python, R, Tensorflow, H2O etc. to implement Quants algorithms like Gradient Boosting (various implementations), Random Forest, and Neural Networks (Deep Learning NNs involving recurrent, convolutional, and LSTMs needed for modeling time series and dynamic processes).

The entire combined team consists of approximately 20+ resources, onshore and offshore, made up of both team members and contractors (number of contractors will vary with number of projects being worked). The Team works closely with the Corporate Model Risk team to ensure that the corporation meets its regulatory and compliance timelines.Work closely with peer managers in Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Model Risk and Risk COEs.

The candidate will provide day to day support, administration and maintenance for Model Risk Compute and Validation environments.

  • Manages a large, high level technical area or a large-scale new development with direct impact to organization-wide objectives.
  • Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have a companywide impact.
  • Erroneous decisions will result in critical delays in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities.
  • Ensures budget meets operational requirements.
  • Responsibilities include:

  • Primarily Support of the Model Validation (VIPER) Framework and Platform.
  • Delivery of solutions to support CCAR/CECL initiatives across Risk COEs.
  • Partnering with Enterprise Modelling and Validation team to streamline the development and validation process.
  • Quant. modelling and calculation approach
  • Support the business in the CCAR stress testing and establish a technology roadmap to support the operationalization of modelling platforms.
  • Actively partner with business line senior executives in long range strategic planning and ensure integration and partnership of Modeling risk technology with enterprise wide technology strategy.
  • Partner with the LOB development teams to deliver technology solutions to address complex business requirements to manage Modelling risk.
  • Development/Support of models developed in various technologies like Python/R/H20/TensorFlow/CUDA
  • Work with business and technical leaders, sponsors, and analysts on problem understanding, requirements and architecture discovery, analyze complex business requirements, data analysis and modeling, design and write functional and technical specifications.

    Other Desired Qualifications 3+ years of experience delivering Risk Models and/or migration of Legacy Risk Models to ML / Artificial Intelligence /Open Source technologies.
  • 2+ years if experience managing Big Data Tools such as MapR/Hortonworks, Hive, Spark, Sqoop, Atlas, Ranger
  • 2+ years managing the ML/Deep Learning development and support
  • Any experience with deploying Machine Learning models on Google Cloud Platform and/or Amazon Web Services preferable
  • Wells Fargo development experience
