Community Manager, Major Media Giant

Community Manager: Must have level of Executive presence. Highly technical expertise of some sort and demonstrated interest/passion for startup culture. Must have Philadelphia local connections within startup community. Must be flexible and able to work occasional evenings and weekends depending on events. Someone that has run a WeWork, or ran Operations at a start-up company would be a good fit, ex. General Manager or ran front-desk at WeWork. Responsible for executing events, developing strategy. Short Contract-to-Hire. Ideally looking to convert to FTE shortly after.

Media Giant's Labs connects our most insightful leaders and influential technologies with the best and brightest startups. This Media Giant' front door for founders focused on media, entertainment and connectivity to help elevate ideas far beyond where they could otherwise go.

Summary:

  • Serves as the first point of contact in Media Giant Philadelphia space, and creates a welcoming and productive environment.
  • Manages the Media's Philadelphia programming schedule, which will include: speakers, learning sessions, pitch sessions, meet-ups, networking, etc.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with an inclusive group of key Philadelphia institutions such as local startup organizations, and entrepreneurial community leaders.
  • Collaborates with seasoned founders and talented startups, providing internal and external resources, expertise and connections.
  • Manages the Union space/mentor/curriculum platform.
  • Partners with the Learning Lead (contractor) to curate/create new curriculum and programming content, that will be used in-person and online in the Union platform.
  • Develops and manages programs, including supporting in-kind and paid partnerships with Philadelphia area corporations and non-profits.
  • Works closely with Media's National Events program manager on national partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
  • Generally, requires 5-8 years related experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills (goal-setting, organization, -and implementation).
  • Proven experience and understanding of startups
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate, build, and maintain strong working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
  • Entrepreneurial drive and experience
  • Passion for product innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Ability to provide value-add advice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong track record of managing multiple projects with tight timelines from start to finish
  • Ability to work quickly and meet tight deadlines, with great attention to detail.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Positive attitude, self-starter, and high emotional intelligence (EQ)
