Manufacturing Engineering needed for immediate direct hire in the Watertown, CT area. This position is responsible to manage projects ranging from daily process improvements, financial justification, procurement and implementation of capital equipment. The position will also be responsible for providing hands on engineering support to the manufacturing team. This individual will work with Engineers, Operators, Supervisors and other support personnel to increase productivity, capacity, improve safety, quality and increase equipment reliability and uptime. BS in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent along with 2-5 years in Manufacturing Engineering

Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer

  • Provides direct support to facilities, manufacturing equipment, production processes, maintenance and safety; provides production support 50% of time
  • Work closely with Applications Engineers to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness of new product designs
  • Responsible for accuracy of equipment and tooling
  • Works with Operators, Supervisors, Maintenance and QA department to improve processes and troubleshoot equipment repair, and maintenance

Requirements for the Manufacturing Engineer

  • Knowledge of proven manufacturing processes, such as, machining, secondary operations, broaching, piercing, & precision assembly, etc...
  • Problem Solving Skills using proven techniques, (ie. Shainen Problem Solving Techniques, DOE, Six Sigma, 8 Discipline Problem Solving, etc...)
  • Skills in, cost analysis, PFMEA, technical writing, blueprint reading, statistical analysis, and process control
  • Working knowledge of plant/facilities engineering, electronics, pneumatics, engineering controls, engineering standards, cost estimating, product and process rationalization, focused factories, incentive systems, time standards and work sampling
  • ISO or TS16949 experience is a strong plus
  • \Some local travel may be required
