Job Summary

Works with the business and management to define critical business issues and opportunities, lead planning sessions, manage market and competitive research, conduct analyses, and support M&A activity. Utilizes this work to identify and communicate strategic insights and findings to appropriate stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the M&A team, supports the execution of strategic acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and strategic investments from inception through due diligence, valuation, negotiation, closing and integration of a transaction.
  • In collaboration of the M&A team, oversees the analysis of potential acquisition and investment candidates, the performance of complex financial modeling and other analyses to support of the negotiation for selected transactions.
  • Researches industry participants and competitive landscape to develop actionable awareness of potential acquisition and investment candidates. Evaluates target companies for financial, operational and strategic fit and understands and evaluates the impact of the potential transaction on business strategy.
  • Identifies and communicates strategic insights and findings to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Supports annual strategy planning cycle, including meetings and guidance to strategic projects across WBA.
  • Manages the analysis of internal business metrics (current product mix, market share, distribution channels, pricing strategy, and other internal competitive factors) to enable strategic decision making.
  • Manages virtual team members on project work. Guides and mentors less experienced team members. May participate in teaching and training members of the work team.
  • Builds understanding of the specified area and performs as a SME to key stakeholders. Utilizes knowledge to assist business leaders in leveraging ways to grow their business. Maintains involvement at a tactical level throughout the year. Maintains knowledge of competitive/industry trends.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, or strategy –or- High School Diploma/GED and at least 8 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management or strategy.
  • At least 4 years of experience in building financial modeling and experience calculating and analyzing financial metrics, ratios and calculations and public financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)..
  • Experience with cross-functional project management (planning, organizing, and managing cross-functional resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
  • Experience leading and working with cross-functional teams
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).
  • At least 2 years of experience in the indirectly management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or MBA
  • CPA, CFA or other designation
  • Experience in retail, healthcare or pharmacy industry
  • Experience working in an ambiguous environment
