POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Company is currently looking for a hands-on and experienced Software Engineering Manager to grow with the company. As a Software Engineering Manager you will mainly drive the implementation of Company web sites as well as B2B integration solutions. Primary duties include working with Product Managers, Architects and other business stakeholders to understand business requirements, and proposing solutions that meet the business needs and implementing the end-to-end solutions. On a daily basis, the Software Engineering Manager will need to manage a group of java developers as well as mentoring and guiding them to achieve their career goals.

You need to interact extensively with external groups such as Product Management, Business Analyst, Project Management, QA and Production Support, and effectively acts as a filter for communication from these external groups to the individual contributors so that they can focus on getting the work done in a timely manner.

Ideal candidate must demonstrate that you are a collaborative and results-driven lead with a proven track record of successes in J2EE and SOA technologies, and comfortable in the dynamic and busy atmosphere.

5. How long has the position been open? How many candidates are currently in play? 1 month

6. What is the targeted start date? Soon but need 2 weeks for background check process

7. What is the interview process? Short call with me, more of a get-a-feel for their personality; then 1 hour call with manager, then a meeting with 3-4 engineers of team in Carmel.

Responsibilities :

-Work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects to define business requirements, develop and document technical solutions, and provide engineering estimates for planning

-Manage and prioritize the workload of java developers/engineers, and set measurable objectives for the team and guide/help them to achieve the goals

-Perform regular code reviews and write annual performance reviews for engineers

-Empower and motivate engineers to grow and build their career

-Participate in the recruitment of engineers

-Coordinate tasks and responsibilities with various engineering groups in different time zones

-Actively lead or participate in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to testing, deployments and the overall health of the live system.

-Engage in technical design and discussions with engineers

-Mentor and lead an engineering group. Ensure good coding practices are being followed, and that everyone has what they need to do their work

-Keep tracking code quality and design processes to keep improving code quality

-Proactively identify potential issues, and design short-term and long-term solutions

-Conduct performance troubleshooting and optimizations

-Keep up-to-date and grow your own skills

-Explore new technologies, learn new concepts and share ideas with others

-Lead the team to meet deadlines, be accountable and independently determine solutions for complex issues

Required Qualifications

-BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree required

-5+ years of Team management & Leadership experience within cross functional technical teams (Engineering, QA, Operations)

-10+ years of software development experience with a focus on server-side design and architecture

-Experience in end-to-end development life-cycle and post-launch Production support; and experience with iterative software development life-cycle methodologies and frameworks such as Agile, SCRUM, Test Driven Development, etc.

-Extensively experience using the following technologies and tools is required: HTTP, CSS, JSP, JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax, PL/SQL, Java/J2EE, JMS, SpringMVC, Hibernate, MyBatis, Multithreading, SOA, Oracle RDBMS, JBoss/tomcat deployment, Web Services (SOAP,REST, Json), Unit test frameworks like Testng, JUnit, Selenium, Jasmine

-Experience in B2B integration

-Software design, architecture and data integration experience

-Experience with web based architectures, in particular J2EE and related

-Knowledge of database theory. Familiarity with both relational and nonrelational databases

-Working knowledge or broad experience with ANT, Maven, SVN, Mercurial, Jira, bitbucket and Confluence

-Excellent communication skills - able to communicate effectively with technical / non-technical personnel

-Experience working with geographically distributed teams (i.e. Canada and India)
