POSITION PURPOSE


Leads and manages a team of Microsoft Dynamics 365 developers and specialists. This role will have the overall responsibility of supporting and enhancing the company's Microsoft Dynamics 365 product suite and have an extensive understanding of the integration between Microsoft Dynamics 365 modules. Responsibility includes ownership of solution definition and associated strategy that drives towards simplification and standardization of processes, data, systems and integration to support the companies business functions.


PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES



  • Define and influence Microsoft Dynamics 365 strategic direction. Manage the entire lifecycle of a Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem. Owns technologies and interfaces that comprise Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation
  • Act as the overall environment manager: Track usage, code versions and change management across multiple ERP environments and manage builds, deployments and migrations.
  • Perform ongoing support and troubleshooting of service, security, or performance issues, and engage with other technical and third-party support resources as needed
  • Create and maintain environment documentation and solution articles
  • Maintain a strong engagement with the business around usage, performance requirements, and how our systems and software are used to support their processes
  • Manage a team of internal Microsoft Dynamics 365 developers and specialists.
  • Make recommendations regarding other complementary software that may enhance the ERP software
  • Conduct work effort estimation and develop work plans
  • Provide insight on new Microsoft Dynamics 365 technology and how it can be leveraged appropriately to improve the current environment
  • Work closely with business and technical leadership, serving as an expert resource, bringing forth opportunities to leverage Microsoft Dynamics 365 to support new business models and influence decisions regarding business process changes
  • Work on complex business issues that have significant impact on the enterprise, and across enterprise processes and functions, due to the integration of ERP
  • Assist with technical architecture deep dives required to assess complexity and timelines
  • Create detail architecture conversion road map and strategy to reach target solution
  • Coordinate closely with the Legacy Architect / Decommissioning Lead and outside consultants as required
  • Guide the business in utilizing platform functionality to the best extent possible, including the review of business processes and system integration challenges
  • Define and promote enterprise architecture standards and strategies
  • Company Direction and Initiatives - Support, perpetuate and assist with Organizational Strategy and Goals by implementing objectives, processes or programs.
  • IT Strategy - Assists creating and adheres to the overall IT roadmap and strategies. Suggests, introduces and implements new technologies and solutions focusing on opportunities that increase value, business performance and results.
  • Demonstrates skills and ability to assess and develop IT trends and processes within the organization. Serves as liaison for technology related decisions, including best practices for process design and use of technology.
  • Project Management and Planning - Develop plans and lead the expansion and support of corporate-wide systems and coordinate efforts with other leaders.
  • Operational - Analyzes complex business needs and oversees the development, design, implementation and support of IT solutions for existing and new applications.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of solutions that ensure data consistency and availability.
  • Manages contracts and relationships with vendors.
  • Customer Service - Support, comply and implement customer service policies and programs as directed by the Company or otherwise approved by management.
  • Management - Manage all aspects of the IT Department within the scope of responsibility. Prepare IT Budget for the defined scope of responsibility. Monitor departmental budget and make adjustments when appropriate to stay within planned budget. Work with IT management to develop, enforce and make recommendations to the IT Policies and Procedures.
  • Leadership and Team Building - Provide an environment that allows and perpetuates empowerment by pushing decision making responsibility down to the lowest level within practical qualifications. Provide an environment that promotes team building and work to provide growth paths for individuals. Monitor progress through the use of (but not limited to) the following:


    • Progress Reviews - Conduct annual progress reviews for all salaried employees within the scope of responsibility.
    • Personal Development Plans - Ensure that all salaried employees within the scope of responsibility have personal development plans.
    • Salary - Review and recommend salary changes for direct reports.
    • Support and comply with Company human resource policies and procedures.
    • Assist the IT Director in preparing a yearly IT plan, IT Budget and personal career development plan.
    • Participate in staff meetings both locally and on the corporate level to provide direction to the Company. Conduct weekly meetings in support of the company philosophy on communications.

  • Ensures IT personnel are properly trained on technologies.
  • Communications -Travel - With users in up to twelve separate locations, it is expected for this person to travel based on the needs of the Company and management. Travel is expected to be minimal, no more than 10%.
  • Company Policies - act and comply with company policies.
  • IT Department Representation - Represent the IT department internally and externally. Provide backfill support for the IT Director.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Required



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science and/or finance or related field or a combination of related experience and education
  • Multiple Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP implementations, preferably as lead Architect; 3+ implementations over 10+ year's total experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation in Manufacturing or Steel Industry
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Functional configuration expertise.
  • Extensive technical experience managing recent Dynamics AX versions (D365 preferred), including applications, SQL Server, SSRS/SSAS/Power BI, integration technologies, security
  • Dynamics AX / 365 development experience a plus
  • Proven business acumen in Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and Sales
  • Should be able to understand the legal, local and statutory requirements and their implications on business processes
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with business stakeholders and development teams and to make project presentations
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to plan ahead for scheduled tasks
  • Thorough understanding of the project life cycle from Requirements Definition through Post Implementation Support
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office products such as Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Versatile, dynamic, demonstrates initiative, results oriented, flexible and able to work under tight deadlines
  • Critical thinker with good judgment and initiative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours and travel on occasion
  • Experience in collaboration in a matrix-managed environment, and across multiple and diverse groups
