Position Summary


Randstad Technologies is searching for a Manager specializing in Change and Configuration Management. The Change & CMDB Manager will be responsible for ensuring an effective and efficient coordination of changes to IT systems as well as the management and improvement of the configuration management process. The Change & CMDB Manager overseas the lifecycle of all changes and is responsible for functional implementation and operation of the change management process and its activities. The Change & CMDB Manager enables beneficial changes to be made, with minimum disruption to IT services. This role is also responsible for overseeing the CMDB including: ensuring that updates happen in a timely manner, determining an audit schedule, and leading the evolution of the data model and data sources to support new business requirements .


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Plan, schedule, & register change



  • Connects to projects and programs in order to align the project deliverables with the requirements of the change process.
  • Ensures change requests are documented accurately and completely.
  • Ensure change requests are prioritized based on business needs.
  • Maintains the forward scheduled of changes.
  • Maintains a transparent change administration and reports to business stakeholders about the execution and possible effects of the change on the business.
  • Manages the portfolio of standard (pre-approved) changes (approvals to and demotion of).


Analyze, criticize and plan



  • Assesses whether a change needs a (further) impact analysis and ensures its execution.
  • Validates the type and risk of the change and determines the impact of change requests on the relevant business processes and services.
  • Ensures the execution of changes are scheduled in an agreed upon window with business representatives to reduce risk.
  • Ensures the correct approvers are assigned. Resolves approval delay issues.
  • Chairs change advisory boards to discuss the impact and decide on change requests with respect to the sense of urgency for the business.


Implement Change



  • Provides guidance of involved staff with respect to the proper execution of changes and communicates thoroughly with business and IT stakeholders.
  • If an unauthorized change is discovered, investigates and reports to IT senior management.
  • Ensure CMDB updates are completed.
  • Ensure post-implementation reviews are conducted per the policy


Quality Assurance



  • Monitors the change process and performs a periodic evaluation of the process.
  • Proposes and implements improvements to the Change Management process.
  • Ensures the alignment of the change process with relating IT processes.
  • Develops and reports change process management activities and information to stakeholders.


Configuration Management and CMDB



  • Develops and maintains the Configuration Standards / Management Plan, its policies, procedures and operational plans
  • Interfaces with other Process Owners to ensure their needs are reflected in the Configuration Standards / Management Plan
  • Establishes and maintains tight interface with the IT Asset Manager
  • Creates awareness, trains and publicizes new/changed Configuration Management procedures to stakeholders
  • Monitors the effectiveness of Configuration Management and continually improves
  • Determines the scope and granularity of the CIs recorded in the CMDB
  • Strives to maximize accuracy of the CMDB
  • Leads periodic verification and audit of CMDB
  • Approve proposed changes to the CMDB data model
  • Promotes & supports effective use of CMDB by support groups and other processes
  • Investigates unauthorized CI changes or alterations to environment not reflected in CMDB


Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications



  • Expert in the Change Management and Configuration Management processes.
  • Familiar with the following processes: Incident, Problem, Release.
  • Expert in the ServiceNow Change Management application.
  • Expert in the ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Familiar with the IT infrastructure and business technologies used by the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related equivalent IT field preferred.
  • ITIL foundation certification preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience working in large or federated enterprises.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in regulatory environment.
  • Cross-functional experience working in multiple divisions that may not be similarly regulated.
