Job Description:

The Linux System Admin is a senior Specialist responsible for maintaining stability of our Infrastructure IT services. The system admin is responsible for providing support to the Linux team to evolve and ensure continuity of services. The ideal candidate is expected to engage on issues and priority incidents to define cause, resolution options and provide post issue root cause analysis.

A solid background in user support is critical as this position involves dealing with a large number of day to day issues which arise in supporting the IT requirements of our company.

The Linux Admin sets short and long-term directions to our Infrastructure. The Linux Admin executes projects, coordinates incident response and escalations, and tracks and follows up on ongoing chronic problems through resolution.

The Linux Admin collaborates with global counterparts to develop and improve methods and processes for supporting the user community's technology needs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Execute Linux patching management process.
  • Build servers and execute server decoms following our processes.
  • Execute user management activities (delete/create users).
  • Manage disk space, backup logs and provide troubleshooting support within the Linux platform.
  • Understand the contractual technical specifications and SLA's and provide support accordingly.
  • Understand business areas and engage with Demand and Customer Advocacy areas.
  • Provide Service support activities to ensure stability of our infrastructure.
  • Take preventive or corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure delivery of requests/incidents are on time and with quality.
  • Ensure that all deliverables comply with the boundaries set by enterprise architecture and by security and compliance.
  • Ensure applicable audit actions are managed and fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the execution of changes, in line with change requests.
  • Recommend changes because of technical needs.
  • Ensure the execution of the technical deployment activities in line with defined process.
  • Strong technical background and is responsible for the support of Linux operating systems, as well as meeting customer needs related to these environments.
  • Help maintain disaster recovery procedures.
  • Maintain Linux system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis and escalating problems to Product Owner.
  • Upgrades Linux system by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.

Your profile:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the technology profession
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Good process skills
  • Fluent speaking and writing in English
  • Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • A customer focus; strong organizational skills, and conceptual design skills.
  • The successful candidate will have experience with Linux platform including the following knowledge:

    • RHCSA - Required and proved experience
    • RHCE - Preferable and proved experience
    • Knowledge and experience using Puppet
    • Satellite product knowledge and experience
    • Experience with RHEL5 and 6 with RHEL 7 preferable
    • VMWare knowledge preferable
    • Preferred: JBoss, Control-M
    • Cloud Knowledge and experience is a plus

  • Ability to successfully understand and translate the needs of internal customers into IT service requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of a diverse environment, including service providers, senior management, administrative groups and individuals.
  • Good written skills, including the ability to make technology understandable to end users and enterprise decision makers.
  • Demonstrated insight, tact, political acumen, and diplomacy skills sufficient to foster effective relations and build consensus with diverse groups in the enterprise.
