Your Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible primarily for providing legal advice, regulatory advice and contracts and negotiations support to the IBM business in AP, with an initial focus on Singapore. He/she will be assisting relevant business lines identify and remediate risk areas from a compliance perspective, with contract drafting, preparation and responses to proposals, mark-up of contracts and RFP/RFIs, commercial negotiations, and contract administration. You will also be expected to work as part of a team and some job overlap may be expected.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice on a broad range of commercial, legal and compliance issues of relevance to IBM in the Asia Pacific region
  • Preparing, negotiating and advising on all aspects of contracting
  • Working with various business lines, and the Companys finance, regulatory and risk management teams, to provide solutions consistent with the Companys corporate policies and positions
  • Ensuring documentation is maintained, and that organisational memory is retained, within the corporate business group.
  • Developing and providing education on compliance issues (including business integrity, ethics and FCPA)
  • Where required, take the lead negotiator role in large or complex deals
  • Where required, provide coaching & advice to other members of the legal team on contracts and negotiations matters
  • The candidate will perform a customer facing role and may also be required to support the supply chain/procurement function and global financing function, as required
  • The role is primarily based in Singapore but may be be expected to travel around the Asia Pacific region as required to provide transactional support for contract negotiations and/or compliance support to deliver education or participate in investigations.

Requirements:

  • A degree in law and legal qualification in Singapore or other Asia Pacific jurisdiction
  • Experience in international contracting matters is an advantage
  • Experience in financing is an advantage
  • Previous exposure in an IT related industry is an advantage
  • Ability to give advice with an eye as to the commercials of a particular situation
  • Demonstrated ability to influence contract structure & business decision making for the benefit or advantage of the company
  • Able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment, and to meet critical deadlines
  • Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle multiple deals/matters concurrently
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating large & complex deals & situations
  • Possessing a high standard of personal and professional integrity
  • An Asian language would be an advantage (eg Mandarin)
