Collect, disseminate and manage information, market data, and statistics relating to the manufacturing technology industry in support of the economic, market, data analytics and business planning functions of the Strategic Analytics department.


Primary Job Functions:


Manage all aspects of periodic statistical reporting programs including data collection, data entry, data verification, data analysis, confidentiality issues, database maintenance, report generation and report distribution.


Provide domestic and international market intelligence to promote the membership's global advancement.


Investigate, research, and estimate data needed to fulfill on-demand market research requests.


Research, analyze and respond to member requests for information about the machine tool and related industries, including end-user industries, as well as information about general economic conditions that affect our members' businesses.


Prepare papers, reports and presentations for use by members and staff in relation to the responsibilities of the position.


Develop, maintain and improve documentation of departmental work processes to capture best known practices.


Coordinate, update, and produce the Economic Handbook of the Manufacturing Technology Industry.


Market statistical programs to prospective users and lead efforts to recruit new participants and retain existing ones.


Assist with the marketing and promotion of departmental programs.


Keep abreast of new data sources or changes in existing data sources that may potentially be used by the department.


Write articles for submission to monthly reports and publications.


Assist in the planning and coordination of projects related to the Economics and Statistics Committee and product groups. Represent the department at meetings of these groups as assigned.


Assist in the planning and coordination of projects related to member meetings and conferences for which the department is responsible.


Monitor, measure and analyze the performance of departmental products and services to develop and implement improvement strategies.


Identify and analyze trends and relationships in proprietary data sets in relation to general economic information.


Develop new and maintain existing documentation of departmental work processes.


Administer activities relative to job function in the implementation of strategic plan.


Perform other duties, as assigned.


Relationships:


Provide data and represent the department at association committee meetings about responsibilities of the position.


Establish and maintain relationships with international analysts and federal officials who work with the manufacturing technology industries.


Consult, communicate, and provide feedback on benchmarking surveys to relevant committees, product groups, and their staff liaison.


Provide information and advice for decision-making to other Association departments.


Plan and coordinate program and work process changes with outside consultants, vendors and appropriate staff.


Respond to questions and inquiries from staff, members and other organizations and companies relative to the responsibilities of the position.


Consult and confer with association staff on projects and work processes for which the position is responsible.


Communicate and share progress on work processes and projects with supervisor and other members of departmental staff.


Job Responsibility and Job Complexity:


Has no supervisory responsibility; however considerable influence on the actions of members or others outside the Association;


Has considerable impact on the internal productivity and on the reputation of the association;


Requires frequent judgment to interpret and carry out assigned work activities. As a result, it requires considerable problem solving to carry out work assignments;


Has some technical latitude to accomplish work assignments of self and/or others; work is generally reviewed in terms of work results.


Position requires:


Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, data science or economics with 2 or more years of experience or 5 years of relevant work experience;


Knowledge of organizational management, with an understanding of these areas of specialization: economics, statistics, data collection and analysis and marketing;


Advanced experience with an understanding of computers and business software applications;


Project management ability, leadership ability good organizational, facilitation and motivation skills, strong interpersonal, oral & written communication, and analytical skills;


Presentation and negotiation skills;


The ability to exercise leadership within a work team.
