Job Description

The Wealth Management Bus Development Team is looking for a junior level Java developer to join our high performance team. The selected team member should have experience with Java based web application development with some SOAP service experience. The candidate will work with the team to develop new services as well as provide some production support and analysis for potential issues found in existing services. They will take into consideration the diverse integration points with other services and interfaces. This position provides great future opportunities for a junior developer to experience enterprise level development with an established team. They will have the opportunity to work with many different technologies and interfaces to solve complex technical and business problems with a diverse group of teams and people while benefitting from exposure to team members with many years of enterprise level application development experience. We are looking for a team player, who is results oriented, flexible and self-motivated.

Wells Fargo Wealth Management is a fast growing business. The Wealth Management Bus Development Team engages in all aspects of design and development for the Wealth Management business. The team is responsible for shared services and frameworks comprising the growing Services Oriented Architecture for the business unit. This position includes technical analysis, development, unit testing development, and developer level quality assurance testing throughout the entire software development life cycle. We routinely interface with Operational Business units in the formulation of technical strategy and direction. The team also regularly engages with other systems development groups to set the direction for future application design and shared services.

Responsibilities include:

Act as a junior developer, working with the team to develop code fixing issues with existing SOAP services as well as building new ones. Duties include hands-on programming and assisting with service design decisions. Provide some application support, analysis, and trouble-shooting of existing services to identify bugs and potential issues with existing services. Participate in pair/peer check-ins and secure code review. Apply quality and secure code development practices to prevent application security risk and meet compliance requirements for supported applications and services. Assist with working the production and development defect queue and problem tickets. Assist with production checkout functions for periodic production releases. Work with the project managers, developers, analyst, quality assurance release managers, and other management resources in trouble-shooting and analysis efforts. Assist with semi-annual business continuity planning and execution exercises.



Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of application development and implementation experience
  • 1+ year of Java experience



Desired Qualifications

  • 1+ year of RESTful or SOAP web services
  • 1+ year of Weblogic experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Advanced problem solving and technical troubleshooting capabilities
  • SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) experience
  • Agile experience
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Team and results oriented
  • Hands on working experience with Spring / Hibernate
  • Experience with Oracle, MS SQL or DB2 Database development and / or integration
  • Experience with Groovy, Gradle, Drools a plus
  • Experience using Subversion SVN, Jira or Version One
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services, investment, or wealth operations
  • Hands on experience with Troubleshooting and Debugging
