Java Developer - Consultant


Location: Jersey City, NJ


Target Start: October 2017


For the US DataLink Development role, the ideal person would have the following qualifications (roughly in order):



  • Good Java programming skills
  • Experience with IBM MQ required
  • XML/XSL/Transformation/ XSLT
  • Linux /Unix familiarity
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Quick learner
  • Good organization skills (keeping issues straight and following up on things)
  • Shell scripting experience
  • Initiative to improve the system
  • Willing to do occasional support(understanding how to do support well)


For Internal candidates:



  • Any knowledge of DataLink is a plus
  • Works well with our current production support team
  • Knowledge of our release management procedures and tools
  • Knowledge of the Back Office
  • Knowledge of the tools and utilities we use
  • Understands hardware concepts and how to navigate the request and delivery process


This job requires a strong Java developer to work on a global markets middleware system that provides connection and data services to many systems throughout the bank. Collaborate and build integrated messaging solutions with other infrastructure, front, middle and back office systems. Strong design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation skills needed. Work closely with business partners in defining requirements for system applications. Develop and modify Java programs based on user requirements in a Linux environment. Write software to convert messages to different formats using XForms & XSLT. Coordinate with the business users to get sign-off for the User Acceptance Testing. Execute production releases and support production smoke testing. Assist the production support team in resolving the production issues. Enhancing the API to handle new real time trade and settlement message flows through IBM MQ, JMS and TIBCO RV interfaces. Modifying upload and download connections to Bloomberg to accommodate new and changing business needs. Strong communication skills required.
