Berkeley Lab’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (https://commons.lbl.gov/display/cio/Office+of+the+CIO) has an opening for an IT Policy Program Manager.  In this role, you will work under the Chief Information Security Officer and Deputy CIO for Policy & Technology and engage with both internal and external stakeholders to help achieve the best policy outcomes regarding technology and cyber security for the Lab’s researchers.  

 

This position will require equal parts policy analyst, teacher, negotiator, and technology generalist.  You will serve as a key point of contact with stakeholders to explain the Lab’s positions and performance  while functioning as a key part of the risk management team for cyber security and other IT policy areas including Privacy, Records Management, Open Access, and more, helping to make sound, efficient, risk-based decisions for the Lab community.

 

This position will be hired at a level commensurate with the business needs; and skills, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.

 

What You Will Do:

• Represent LBNL’s information technology and cyber security policies and performance to the Department of Energy (DOE) at both the local oversight and national levels.

• Develop internal policy documents and program documents to foster the implementation of cyber security, privacy, and IT requirements at the Laboratory.

• Serve as the key point of contact for audits and oversight related to IT and Cyber at Berkeley Lab including the management of assessments and data calls.

• Work closely with the Cyber Security team to help plan and engage in risk management strategies.

• Monitor legislative and policy changes at the state and national level and develop issue briefs and strategies.

• Coordinate with peers at other National Laboratories and other UC Campuses to leverage policy efforts effectively.

Notes:

• This is a full-time career appointment, exempt from overtime pay (monthly paid).
