The Integration Test Architect position is one that requires wearing many hats in order to be successful.

The primary responsibility of the ITA is to establish the consolidated life cycle test strategy. Once that strategy has been established they have to take on the ownership of the implementation of that test strategy and continue to maintain visibility and governance of the test development and execution. The ITA facilitates cross-domain knowledge and ensures consistency throughout the life of the project/initiative.

The ITA is a senior testing professional whose primary function is to design solutions to testing challenges faced by the organization. These challenges are solved through the application of relevant process and practice, the use of tools and technologies and by applying the soft skills of effective communication and mentoring.

Day To Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage the E2E integration testing

    • Creation of E2E testing strategy by working with individual integration scrum teams as part of their sprint planning process to ensure anything needed from an integration testing perspective is accounted for in time for planned integration testing cycles.
    • Review of planned testing activities to determine where efficiencies can be gained as well as identify any gaps that may impact integration testing.
    • Provide analysis and guidance on Performance, Volume and Scalability testing strategy

  • Test data sourcing

    • By a continual review of work to be delivered by integration partners the Integration Test Architect can help ensure teams have a firm understanding of where crucial data is derived from and how to source that data.
    • Assist with data development coordination across sources systems.

  • Reporting of current status of integration testing across all integration teams.

    • Creation of a test status dashboard should be part of this and include:

      • Testing status from each scrum team so that integration partners are aware of current status prior to start of integration testing.
      • Integration testing status
      • Performance, volume and scalability testing status
      • Track and ensure alignment of status in Agile Central with test strategy.
      • Help with test execution, monitoring and result validation as needed.
      • Creation and implementation of defect management process.

        • Ensuring proper QA practices are adhered to in defect tracking
        • All defects are documented in Agile Central and include:

          • Steps to reproduce
          • Complete description
          • What workarounds have been attempted
          • Accurate classification of defect severity
          • Testing leadership and management of Quality Assurance process.
          • Continuous monitoring and optimization of approaches and methodologies to ensure ongoing improvements overall integration testing strategy.
          • Creation of risk identification and mitigation plans


  • Computer Science Degree
  • 8-10 years proven experience as a Test Architect on large-scale integration projects.

    • Ability to create and communicate test strategies that encompass multiple integration teams as well as disparate data sources.

  • 5-8 years proven hands on testing experience of complex, large scale projects.
  • 3-5 years experience leading integration testing efforts in a Scaled Agile Framework environment.
  • Proven ability to provide complex analysis multi-tier test environments and provide test leadership around integration and performance validation.
  • Possess broad awareness of testing approaches, practices and techniques in order to help design and deliver the overall testing methodology used by the team.
  • Provide the technical know-how, documentation and training to test, delivery and other business functions.
  • Ability to monitor effectiveness of testing function and bring about improvements through insights gained through analysis at all stages of SDLC.
  • Previous healthcare experience is a plus


Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and typically eight to ten years experience
