Within the Cyber Security Defense and Monitoring (CSD&M) organization, this Information Security Manager position will lead the Perimeter Hunting team within Offensive Security Research Team. This team is responsible for managing penetration testing assessments, continuous intelligent tooling, and identifying potential threats via threat modeling exercises.

The Perimeter Hunting team manager will work closely with other Cyber Threat Management teams to provide a secure environment for other teams to deliver new features and custom tooling across CTM systems that will enhance and improve upon existing products. The Perimeter Hunting team supports many cutting edge technologies that allow Wells Fargo to address many of the challenges with managing a large information security capability. This leadership position will report directly to the Offensive Security Research team leadership within Cyber Threat Management (CTM), and will be managing and leading a high performance team of security engineers & collaborate with CSI engineers and developers focused on assessments, testing, identifying weak perimeter assets, automation, integrations, development activities, and more. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages and engages staff. Provides guidance, training and motivation as necessary to develop staff. Hires, evaluates and counsels individuals on the team. Follows corporate disciplinary procedures per established Wells Fargo standards as required. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, provides feedback, and recommends wage increases in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes issues and develops viable solutions; and directs the work of internal and matrixed resources.
  • Manages infrastructure administration and maintenance for security projects and initiatives that support creation of new information security tools and applications that address immediate and emerging threats.
  • Define and initiate projects; and work to manage cost, schedule, and performance of projects while working to ensure ultimate success and acceptance of the project.
  • Build credibility, establish rapport and maintain communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including those external to the Cyber Threat Management organization
  • Determine and coordinate the prioritization and sharing of resources among various projects to the overall benefit of the team.
  • Perform a variety of project related complex tasks as required including reviews, progress status with business and development departments.
  • Act as primary point of contact managing all incoming requests pertaining to the innovation team initiatives.
  • Closely monitor timelines and hold team members accountable to ensure achievement of milestones on schedule and on budget.
  • Effectively lead team meetings and presentations to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper documentation, organization and tracking of all material and dates related to project(s) for easy access, retrieval, audit, publications and presentations.
  • Measures and analyzes processes and procedures and offers solutions to increase efficiency, productivity and performance
  • Manage and report project performance - financial reporting, resource allocation, task delegation and stakeholder management
  • Manages vendor relationships according to contract terms and conditions as well as provide support for existing contracts
  • Maintain productive relationships with business partners on a corporate and field level in order to optimize financial and operational performance.
  • Exercise critical thinking and strong decision-making skills to achieve departmental and organizational goals
  • Update innovation initiative tracker (as needed)
  • Ensure early identification of issues, delays, extended lead-times and identify contingency plans if needed.
  • Partner with Innovation Team to track competitive products and facilitate product cuttings
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 9+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: information security, IT systems security or technology experience including 3+ years direct experience in information security
  • 3+ years of management experience, in an Information Security or IT environment
  • 3 + years of technology application management experience

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing large information security functions
  • Experience managing a technology infrastructure function, application or information security function that has impact across the enterprise
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively influence and interact with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to positively influence, motivate, and direct diverse teams in a shift based, decentralized, and geographically dispersed environment
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • Knowledge and understanding of banking or financial services industry
  • Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to manage complex projects in a large enterprise environment
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust plans quickly to meet changing business needs
  • Solid decision making skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of administering or managing server and network infrastructure that support cyber threat management capabilities and functions
  • Expert understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps framework supporting Information Security initiatives and compliance
  • Broad knowledge of business model and cyber threat intelligence operation of Wells Fargo or other financial institutions preferred;
  • Deep knowledge of threat intelligence concepts and leading industry practices is required.
  • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)
