job summary:

Randstad is seeking a full time Industrial Controls Tech Support Specialist that can serve customers by troubleshooting issues and answering technical pre-sales questions received via, phone and email. Questions may involve any product that AutomationDirect sells from any product silo which include: PLCs, HMIs, Communications devices, Drives/Motors/Motion controllers, Process/Fluid Power, Power Distribution and Industrial Components. Works under limited supervision with occasional use of discretion and independent judgment. Uses advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances.

responsibilities:
  • Customer Support/Troubleshooting - Provide solutions to customer issues received via, phone and email. Maintain internal database (Heat application) of call information. May conduct technical research, testing and re-create customer issues using actual equipment and configurations to assist in trouble-shooting.
  • Training - Attend team meetings and training sessions to learn new products. When not taking calls, may also train/re-train on existing products to increase knowledge..
  • Documentation - May create application notes, review product documentation and update hard-copy or online documentation as needed.
  • Point of Contact - Act as a Tech Support liaison with other ADC teams when new products are considered. This may include documentation development and review for new products as well as evaluation and/or development assistance for new products.

skills:
  • Requires a Technical Degree with a minimum of 3 years experience OR minimum of 5 years' industry experience.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting/start-up experience required.
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting Windows to industrial Ethernet network required.
  • HMI programming and troubleshooting experience required.
  • Communications experience with various industry networking solutions (Devicenet, Profibus, etc.) desirable.
  • Experience with AC servo, Variable frequency drives, and stepper systems products a plus
