Job Description

The Head of Platform Engineering for Enterprise End Point & Mobility will lead Engineering for our physical and virtual suite of desktop offerings. Reporting to the Head of End User & Mobility Technologies, this leader will be the point of contact for all Platform Engineering activities, developing the enterprise platform engineering strategy and collaborates closely with the Enterprise Architecture and Application Development teams to ensure that key technologies are architected to deliver an integrated experience. The leader develops strategies and collaborates closely with line-of-business (LOB) aligned CIOs and Service Delivery Team to develop and support the vision and strategy of EUMT, positively and proactively promoting our services, ensure alignment with EIT and LOB objectives and optimize the team member experience on all enterprise endpoints.

The Platform Engineering Leader has day-to-day operational accountability for the engineering of both physical and virtual desktop platforms. Additional responsibilities include:

Platform Engineering & Operations

  • Ensure that EUMT products and solutions are engineered to optimize the experience
  • Ensure and next generation products are engineered for strategic alignment with EIT
  • Develop/maintain Platform Engineering Standards and governance
  • Focus LIVE client strategy, design & alignment for our rapidly growing domestic & international user base
  • Deliver support for TMT engineered products, tools, services & infrastructure
  • Operational consultations that align business requirements to optimal EUMT products and services
  • Ensure platform support tools, imaging systems, and reporting systems are developed to standards o Ensure the planning, designing, and support the XEN/Desktop solution for the virtual desktop environment
  • Collaborate with other EIT technology teams on complex modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts as needed to sustain and optimize the overall VDI environment

Automation and Configuration Management Engineering

  • Ensure effective engineering to provide configuration management systems as a service for Software Distribution Services and other operationally focused administrators
  • Serve as point of contact to identify/review/analyze advancements and stability in software delivery and patch management technologies
  • Promote effective design, development, and support of automation frameworks for operational activities
  • Support solutions for inventory of hardware and software assets for EUMT systems
  • Guide active directory structure, inclusive of scripting and Group Policy Object (GPOs) construction and management

Platform Security

  • Develop/maintain platform security standards
  • Adhere to and monitor adherence to platform security controls
  • Engage with Enterprise Information Security (EIS) and Enterprise Architecture on platform security related activities

Accountable for participation in any problem/incident management activities

  • Identify and respond to any platform engineering implications during or post a problem and/or incident
  • Provide any platform engineering implications/metrics/analysis during the incident
  • Utilize tools/agents to proactively evaluate or monitor key performance indicators related to end user experience
  • Participate in the plan and approach for specialized platform engineering or software distribution
  • Represent Platform Engineering on incident management calls

Business partnership with key teams and partners including:

  • EUMT Leadership Team, and extended TMT team
  • Line of business aligned CIOs and EIT Shared Services organizations (infrastructure, etc.)
  • EGS, EIT IIS & other international organizations
  • Application development teams
  • EIS and EIT Technology teams engineering products required on the client platforms
  • EIS, Corporate Security, Compliance and Risk regarding subjects such as vendor access to WF facilities for third parties, international risk considerations, authentication/authorization etc.

Understand and strive to meet/exceed yearly defined objectives.

Instill a customer service philosophy and attitude with employees and builds working relationships with internal and external customers.

Promote and maintain system security, customer and business confidentiality.

Adhere to WF policies and comply with Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement.

Identify staffing needs and ensure schedules are created collaboratively to ensure smooth transition and appropriate assignments throughout shift to cover changing customer needs and agent availability.

Actively review and report appropriate metrics to ensure quality standards are met.

Routinely conduct Team Member Engagement activities.

Ensures cost effectiveness by applying tools and processes to successfully manage a budget.

Communicate plans for implementation of goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of technology infrastructure experience
  • 7+ years of management experience in technology
  • 5+ years of virtualization technologies experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Windows server operating systems including building, supporting and advanced troubleshooting
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in an end point environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing multiple or large technology infrastructure components

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience managing a desktop team
  • 5+ years of experience working with Citrix/VMware technology
  • Experience managing multiple or large technology infrastructure components
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering large, complex platforms
  • Experience managing in a matrixed environment with direct management of a staff of at least 20 including subordinate senior managers and individual contributors
  • Experience driving organizational transformation to meet evolving business climate and demands
  • Experience managing and leveraging international technology teams
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement/process efficiencies
  • Experience with industry-wide solutions including but not limited to: SCCM, Citrix, Windows, iOS, VMWare, Good for Enterprise (GFE) and App-V
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and compliance requirements pertinent to a financial institution
  • Aptitude for complex problem-solving and a pragmatic results orientation
  • Exceptional judgment of tangible and intangible factors, organizational savvy with strong relationship management, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing budgets of $10MM and above with strong financial management experience across multiple accounting units including; base and incremental budgets, project budgets, and cost allocation models
  • Demonstrated leadership in partnering and influencing senior leaders
  • Ability to work in a complex, highly matrixed work environment
