Data Management and Insights (DMI), which offers Data Office capabilities to Wells Fargo, focuses on leveraging data as a strategic asset. Data is critical to Wells Fargos continued success, deepening relationships with our customers, creating a seamless and convenient multi-channel experience, and meeting our commitment to satisfy our customers financial needs. DMI defines how we use information across the company, align our business practices and support our continued focus on great customer experience.

Data Management Solutions

The Data Management Solutions (DMS) organization within DMI provides holistic and consistent data management capabilities to Wells Fargo. This includes domain management, data quality monitoring, metadata management, data lake management, and master/reference data management.

Position summary:

The Head of Master and Reference Data Management will over oversee management of a large team which will partner with DMI leaders, technology leaders, corporate functions, and line of business (LOBs) partners to implement and manage master and reference data capabilities for Wells Fargo. This role will drive the delivery of consistent and accurate views of business critical master and reference data information to meet our business needs.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Demonstrate master, reference data, and technology thought leadership; develop productive business relationships, and build strong sponsorship of master/reference data strategy and roadmap; understand and influence the strategy, ensuring it is informed by current and emerging technology capability and supported by our architecture and roadmap
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive plan to manage master and reference data in order to meet specific business needs phased by priorities (e.g.,eONE, RRP, etc.)
  • Ensure technology partners are informed by business requirements, including analytical reporting needs, and implemented in accordance to committed timelines
  • Ensure alignment with the enterprise level data strategy, line of business strategy, and IT strategy across a variety of business, stakeholders, and initiatives
  • Act as a catalyst to socialize DMS capabilities, solutions, and data assets to advance the data agenda of the enterprise
  • Define change management strategy to drive the adoption of master and reference data into LOB processes and behaviors while minimizing disruption to business
  • Drive planning and implementation of approach/plan end-to-end while ensuring operational excellence and process efficiency
  • Collaborate and coordinate with executive and key leaders to maintain commitment to strategic objectives
  • Partner with peers in DMI and EIT function as the conduit to SMEs within the Lines of Business
  • Recruit high-performing managers to stand up organization; attract, and sustain elite talent, build collaborative high-performing teams, and foster culture of excellence
  • Ensure talent development leveraging both internal resources and industry best practices
  • Provides leadership for related internal as well as industry activities
  • Exercises the usual authority of a manager and is responsible for the management of individuals and matrixed teams focused on report documentation activities
  • Locations: Charlotte, NC; New York, NY or San Francisco, CA or other hub locations in the Wells Fargo domestic footprint.

    Required Qualifications

    10+ years of experience in analytics, modeling, or a combination of both8+ years of management experience; or 3+ years of leadership experience in an advanced quantitative analytics function

    Other Desired Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of successfully implementing enterprise master and reference data management; data analysis, data profiling and data integration

  • Experience with enterprise master and reference data management best practices and disciplines including governance/change management activities, data mapping, data modeling, hierarchy management, data validation

  • Knowledge of reference and master data technologies such as Informatica MDM; experience interacting with big data technologies, e.g. Hadoop, Teradata, data lake

  • Experience creating strategic plans for enterprise wide business initiatives

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to engage and influence technology and Lines of Business executives

  • Proven track record of leadership overseeing multiple managers of large teams with diverse and complex areas of accountability

  • Experience defining, documenting, and implementing business requirements, policies, procedures and processes of master and referenced data activities and identification of future efficiencies

  • Capacity to organize and manage multiple priorities and achieve results

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations

  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization

  • Experience presenting to operating committee members, boards and on industry forums

  • Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and internal audit assessments

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Driven, confident, organized and an accomplished problem solver

  • Bachelors degree, MBA preferred
