About Enterprise Architecture for EIT

As part of EITs Enterprise CIO group, the Enterprise Architecture team is focused on building solutions that maximize use of emerging technologies to transform our business to achieve superior value and scalability. Architecture for EIT establishes criteria for how standard infrastructure and application architecture should be used in order to support our EIT organization. This includes collaborating with COO, Risk Management, IT4IT, Portfolio Technologies, CIO, Strategy, Shared Service and Infrastructure teams to define core IT Services.

Wells Fargos Architecture organization is a matrixed team which includes:

  • Horizontal architecture teams which cross all lines of business and provide enterprise-level architectural guidance on Infrastructure, Data and Security;

  • Vertical architecture teams aligned to the lines of business, such as Wholesale and Consumer Lending, ensuring that unique business needs are satisfied.

This position aligns to the vertical and provides architectural support to EIT as a line of business, ensuring the acknowledgement of Technology as a business.

Job Description- Group Systems Architect for EIT

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, the Group Systems Architect (GSA) for EIT serves as the lead EIT architect for Wells Fargos internal information technology function. This individual directly manages architects, provides design guidance across the organization and ensures alignment to Wells Fargos enterprise strategy standards across the broader architecture community.

As an EIT Architecture subject matter expert with a solution and implementation focus, the GSA EIT ensures architectural soundness of technology services provided to technology operations and EIT constituents and GSA peers and collaborates closely with EIT senior leaders and senior executives of the supported businesses as well as with the Innovation group. The GSA establishes criteria for how standard infrastructure and application architecture should be used in order to support the EIT organization, including:

  • EIT Business Systems and Applications
  • Big Data
  • Asset and Configuration Management
  • IT Data Management
  • Project and Portfolio Management Architecture
  • IT Pipeline and Workflow Systems
  • Vulnerability and Patch Management Architecture
  • IT Strategy as it relates to managing IT as a business
  • Application Architecture
  • Contributing to and supporting efforts to build intellectual property via patents.

A key interface is with the EIT Chief Operating Office and EIT Risk Management Organization in addition to the IT4IT Organization:

  • Evolve the overall internal IT4IT technology strategy and organization capabilities, focusing on a horizontal technology vision and strategy supporting an integrated ecosystem for planning, project, and build & release tool chains.
  • Define an approach for application rationalization and embedded IT discussions for the Strategy to Portfolio tools and platforms including build vs buy and integration strategies.
  • Define an approach for application rationalization and embedded IT discussions for the --Requirements-to-Deploy tools and platforms including build vs buy and integration.

As part of a passionate, highly-motivated, collaborative team, the GSA EIT has a major impact on the architecture and development of the current capabilities as the organization transforms to provide more dynamic solutions in an aggressive environment to support EIT. The GSA EIT solves massive-scale, performance challenges and builds a next-generation network of actionable intelligence products, working with the brightest minds that make up the technical and thought-leadership team. Wells Fargos architectural direction is based on use of a data lake to house IT data for accessibility, normalization and a single source of truth for all IT supported activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of architectural design and planning experience
  • 5+ years of management experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years of data architecture experience, with specific concentration on big data.
  • 5+ years experience in delivering enterprise-scale architecture to support the technology organization
  • Experience solutioning for an IT Enterprise, managing initiatives related to the following: architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the broader architecture community; hardware and capacity planning, consolidation and rationalization; related emerging technology assessment and incubation
  • 7+ years of experience designing software solutions using software architecture design principles
  • 5+ years of application development experience;
  • 7+ years of IT strategic planning and development experience; Familiarity with Application Architecture
  • 7+ years of 3rd party vendor application development experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology project management: large scale development projects, including data migrations and third party vendor integrations
  • Experience building/delivering/applying new technologies to business needs in a technologically innovative, change-driven organization
  • Experience with AI technologies
  • Experience with performance management architecture
  • Experience with Service Management Architecture
  • Ability to consult at the highest technical level on design: planning, integration, implementation, scalability, and problem definition
  • Ability to evaluate risks and the impact of decisions on an overall organization; Knowledge and understanding of operational risk management in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge and experience in the Open Groups IT4IT model.
  • Proven ability to influence and build relationships in a matrixed environment with LOB executive stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams
  • A BS/BA degree or higher, preferably in a technology-related domain
