About Enterprise Architecture for Cloud

As part of EITs Enterprise CIO group, the Enterprise Architecture team is focused on building solutions that maximize use of emerging technologies to transform our business to achieve superior value and scalability. The Enterprise Cloud Architecture group is responsible for our cloud strategy, cloud platform architecture, Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings, and third-party hosted solutions.

Job Description- Group Systems Architect (GSA) for Cloud

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, the Group Systems Architect (GSA) for Cloud provides technical leadership, design guidance across the organization, and expertise on cloud and adjacent technologies. The GSA for Cloud interfaces with EIT senior leaders and senior executives of the supported businesses, ensuring alignment to Wells Fargos enterprise strategy standards across the broader architecture community. Additionally, the GSA Cloud serves as the lead cloud architect and advisor on the architecture team relating to cloud infrastructure and applications architecture and provides technical guidance regarding performance, scalability, security, design, and implementation of SaaS products.

Turning requirements into scalable, distributed multi-tenant cloud offerings and deploying and managing software as a service (SaaS) solutions is a crucial component of the role.

As part of a passionate, highly motivated, collaborative team, the GSA for Cloud has a major impact on the architecture and development of the current capabilities as Wells Fargo moves to the cloud. The GSA for Cloud and team solve massive-scale, performance challenges and build a next-generation network of actionable intelligence products. Our architectural direction is an API-defined, container-based deployed and micro-services developed architecture using the latest technological advances. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in developing our SaaS and API addressable offering strategy and in bringing new ideas to complement our existing features with new cloud initiatives
  • Work with engineers to design solutions to todays SaaS/cloud exposures in the Enterprise and Service Provider space
  • Work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams throughout the company as a subject matter expert in SaaS/Cloud with solution and implementation focus
  • Advise on the refactoring and design of preexisting software to help increase its cloud relevancy.
  • Contribute to and support effort to build intellectual property via patents


Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of architectural design and planning experience
  • 5+ years of management experience





Other Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years of SOA (Services Oriented Architecture) experience
  • 5+ years of experience delivering enterprise-scale, multi-cloud solutions
  • 7+ years of experience designing software solutions using software architecture design principles and architecture frameworks
  • Experience building/delivering/applying new technologies to business needs in a technologically innovative, change-driven organization
  • Ability to consult at the highest technical level on design: planning, integration, implementation, scalability, and problem definition
  • Proven ability to influence and build relationships in a matrixed environment with Line of Business (LOB) executive stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams
  • 5 + years of application development experience
  • 7+ years of strategic planning and development experience
  • 7+ years of 3rd party vendor application development experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology project management: large scale development projects, including data migrations and third party-vendor integrations
  • Ability to manage initiatives related to the following: architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the broader architecture community; hardware and capacity planning, consolidation and rationalization; related emerging technology assessment and incubation
  • Ability to positively influence, motivate, and direct diverse teams in a decentralized and geographically dispersed environment
  • Ability to understand short and long term costs, benefits, and risks of technical solutions
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology reviews of critical systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of operational risk management in the financial services industry
  • Financial industry experience
  • A BS/BA degree or higher, preferably in a technology-related domain
