Geospatial Solutions Developer - GIS Back-End and Integration Specialist


Job Description


We are looking for a Geospatial Solutions Developer with Backend and Integration specialization. Primary focus of this role will be in developing the back-end needs for geospatial data capturing, storage, analysis and integration.


Responsibilities


- Design and Develop innovative Geospatial applications that addresses the most challenging business, technology, and systems integration needs


- Work with the team lead and client staff to identify requirements and develop, modify, and maintain a variety of applications. This includes working with Geospatial Analysts to understand their workflows.


- Design, develop, and implement custom components, services, and scripts for an enterprise applications


- Integrate newly designed functionality with other currently existing products


- Build Geo-spatial analytical models and automation tools


- Develop applications and integrate with existing applications using a variety of platforms (propriety e.g. ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine; and open source e.g. Geoserver)


- Support the current ArcGIS and Open Source infrastructure by maintaining and developing new capabilities.


- Provide support, troubleshooting, modifications, enhancements and maintenance for existing GIS applications, scripts, tools and web services.


- Create and maintain system related documentation.


Educational Qualifications and Experience:


- Education: Master's degree in Computer Science, Geography, or related disciplines with at least 8 years of experience in GIS application development.


- Role Specific Experience: 5+ years of experience in designing, developing and implementing geospatial solutions; Strong background in Python / R, Java, JavaScript, HTML 5 and other latest scripting languages (minimum of 5 years of experience) ; 5+ years of experience with developing against Relational Database Management Systems, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL;


- Strong knowledge of geodatabase design skills and fluency in SQL


- Advanced understanding of GIS principles and concepts particularly in Enterprise GIS implementation


Required Skills/ Abilities


- Experience in spatial data management, particularly using ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Google Earth Engine, and GeoServer.


- Strong knowledge and experience in software design principles and performance optimization.


- Experience with GIS concepts and data and programming technologies, including ESRI ArcGIS, Google Earth/Earth Engine/Maps API, OpenLayers, GeoServer, LeafletJS, or GDAL


- Experience with Web Services, including XML/JSON, SOAP, or RESTful


- Experience developing mapping applications for tablets and mobile devices.


- Ability to be an analytical thinker and problem solver


- Must have a solid knowledge base in advanced internet technologies and object oriented programming including Java.


- Experience working with spatial data, aerial imagery and map projections.


- Experience using GIS Software's - ArcGIS Desktop and Server, FME, GDAL/OGR, GeoServer


- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


- Proven ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences


- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.


- Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) in English. Other languages a plus.
