Job Summary
Responsible for facilitating the Enterprise Business Management process including Portfolio Management. Develops presentation material for senior leadership meetings, provides monthly, quarterly and annual strategic plan performance reporting. Provides critical thinking and input by helping to link the company’s strategic agenda to the resulting execution plan with a specific focus on the programs of largest strategic importance and complexity. Provides guidance and assists in development of long range plans involving strategy development, resource allocation, work plans, timelines, governance approvals and financial outcomes. Facilitates and oversees the enteprise governance process through proper financial and startegic review of company investments, continual review and refinement of the process, regular training to business partners on business case best practices and ongoing communication with business partners across the organization on decisioning.

Job Responsibilities
  • Facilitates the development of the Walgreen Co. Strategic Execution Plan (3-year) plan across Finance and Business leadership teams that links company strategy to clear objectives and financial outcomes in order to improve execution and maximize value creation.
  • Provides guidance to the PMO, Change Management, and WLSS regarding enterprise priorities and strategic intent behind key initiatives. Collaborates with PMO and Finance to develop templates and tools that assist in monitoring the company’s progress against key objectives.
  • Maintains a strategic framework to force prioritization amongst investment opportunities that is consistent and effective in identifying and prioritizing the major programs that drive our strategy and Long-Range Plan.
  • Maintains a monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and monitoring process for strategic program investments for senior management.
  • Facilitates the establishment of KPIs through a common structure and process; participates in Progress meetings to monitor progress and review of the leading indicators of success; performs reviews for alignment to strategy and identification of uses to elevate to senior management.
  • Facilitates the establishment of the annual goal setting process, including cross-functional goals, and the Executive-level, through a common structure and process. Performs reviews for alignment to strategy and identification of uses to elevate to senior management.
  • Ensures consistent utilization of common processes and templates when conducting strategy execution and portfolio process to result in increased accuracy and consistency for project comparison.
  • Provides critical thinking and input by helping to link the company’s strategic agenda to the resulting execution plan with a specific focus on the initiatives with the largest strategic value and complexity. Provides guidance in assisting in the development of long range plans involving strategy development, resource allocation, work plans, timelines, and financial outcomes.
  • Assists in engaging BU leaders regarding requirements to deliver on strategies and partner to shape initial scope for One Plan change programs.
  • Assists in delivering strategy execution by ensuring strategic integration to the Project Management Office, Walgreens Lean Six Sigma, and Change Management ensuring seamless service delivery and hand-offs integration from strategy formulation to execution.
  • May develop and mentor staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 4 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, corporate strategy business management, quantitative analysis or economics OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, corporate strategy business management, quantitative analysis or economics.
  • Experience participating in or leading portfolio management, strategic planning, or financial model development processes.
  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations to executive management.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: ing a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • At least 2 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets.
  • At least 2 years of experience of cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or MBA.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).
