Your Role and Responsibilities

This role is located in Washington, D.C. Please note we are not able to provide relocation assistance.

IBM is seeking a Field Marketing Manager for the Defense and Intelligence segment of the Federal Government Market to help us communicate our vision and point of view, where technologies such as cloud, artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, and the internet of things will work in tandem with digital platforms to reinvent tomorrows government.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute the marketing plan for the US Federal Government market in order to drive revenue and market share growth

  • Develop the marketing strategy based on market requirements and competitive insights

  • Partner with Federal sales leadership in defining requirements for the marketing plan

  • Provide guidance for the Defense & Intelligence Diamond Team in support of the marketing plan; including buyer cohort selection, value proposition, content requirements, campaign execution plan, digital and social strategy and the event marketing plan

  • Work with sales leaders to identify client reference stories for marketing and PR opportunities

  • Work closely with Brand Leaders/ Business Unit Leaders to identify marketing actions to help close gaps to budget/target

  • Forecast, measure and analyze impact of marketing programs on sales pipeline


This role requires the ability to work in the U.S. without current or future need for IBM sponsorship.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 8+ years of technology marketing experience

  • 8+ years of budget and project management experience

  • 8+ years of vendor management experience

  • Experience in marketing to Federal Government clients

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills




Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Able to articulate and align IBM capabilities to client needs

  • Good knowledge of sales, marketing and business development processes

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience working across levels of the organization
