Job Summary
Develops precise construction estimates for stand-alone and overall projects/programs for Company commercial construction activities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides construction estimates for use in the evaluation of potential acquisitions, remodels, roll-outs, new stores and other commercial construction projects and programs.
  • Conducts material quality take-offs to produce detailed construction estimates, material orders, and estimating standards within a timely manner.
  • Collaborates in cross-functional, inter-divisional, and intra-company teams and with key stakeholders on conceptual estimates of new store designs, layouts, and/or formats.
  • Collaborate with Construction Department leaders in the development and deployment of continuous improvement and standardized construction estimating procedures to reduce cost, minimize waste, and deliver more precise construction estimates.
  • Assists and assembles data for a database of typical project element costs and times on a regional basis.
  • Reviews accuracy of cost estimates to rollout opportunities based on processes and templates created. Revisits and implements lessons learned to new strategic changes.
  • Compiles data for value engineering solutions as part of continuous feedback loop of project cost, schedule, quality, and customer service impacts of projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of experience in commercial construction estimating OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
  • Experience in construction and engineering practices including budgeting, estimating, and project scheduling/milestone creation.
  • Experience with commercial architectural/site plans design concepts, cost and quality controls, material/equipment installation, bidding practices, material and labor costs.
  • Experience validating estimating standards.
  • Experience of construction terminology and contract terms and conditions and their applicability in communicating/negotiating with general contractors, municipal construction inspectors, developers, and architects.
  • Experience in completing material quality take-offs in order to produce detailed construction estimates.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: ing a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
  • Experience with project values in excess of $1 Million and multi-project rollouts.
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
