Data is a critical asset to Edwards Lifesciences. The Enterprise Data Distinguished Architect is a thought leader sitting in the Enterprise Architecture organization partnering with both business and IT stakeholders to define and execute an enterprise data architecture and design that supports the organization’s business strategy.

Edwards Lifesciences is transforming its applications and data layers to better control the acquisition, validation, quality and distribution of data across Edwards’ many mission critical applications, data warehouses and external partners. The Enterprise Data Architect will set the overall data architecture and design for Edwards and lead initiatives that build components of architecture ensuring convergence towards the defined future state. This role will architect, design and lead implementation of data models, meta-data models, data flows as well as data services in alignment with Enterprise Architecture standards and guiding principles.

This role will have extremely deep, hands-on expertise in data architecture, design and implementation of Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, MDM, Meta Data management and System Interfaces. We are looking for a high energy leader who is self-motivated, results oriented and has solid understanding of key functional areas such as Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality and Sales & Marketing; and deep knowledge of data architecture best practices to support them.


  • Lead the development of the requirements, principles, models and designs for the future-state data architecture, including data models, data flows as well data services based on a solid understanding of Edwards business requirements. 
  • Participate in Requirements and Design sessions with various business stakeholders to understand business requirements and guide them with data designs that follow industry best practices, and progress us towards the future state data architecture.
  • Create overall data architecture roadmap and work with other architects and business stakeholders to aggressively transition to the future state.
  • Lead efforts to improve business performance through solutions and capabilities, such as business intelligence, master data management (MDM), metadata management, data integration, and related data management components.
  • Identify opportunities to generate revenue or improve business performance through the use of internal or external information content.
  • Prepare conceptual and logical subject area models and implementation-level details
  • Monitor regulatory guidelines (such as privacy requirements), compliance-related guidance (such as data retention) and emerging industry standards to determine their impacts on the EIA.
  • 25% domestic and international travel.


Required Education / Experience / Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in IT, with at least 10 years in information systems design and implementation of Data Warehouse, BI and MDM etc. is required. 
  • Must have a deep understanding of business processes in subject areas such as Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing; and related data design best practices. 
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience as a business or data analyst is highly desirable
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Design-thinking skills.
  • Deep expertise in BI, data warehouse and MDM design and implementation techniques with demonstrable track record of success.
  • System integration experience, including interface design.
  • Expertise in data-modeling and information classification expertise.
  • Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
  • Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis and design, and programming techniques.
  • Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs.
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills
  • Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as to determine the resources needed to achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and be respected as a leader.
  • Track record of remaining unbiased toward specific technologies or vendors.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator across multiple technical and business stakeholders and leaders.
  • Strategic thinker, keeping big picture in mind while ensuring execution excellence.
  • Comfortable working in a global, highly-matrixed and fast paced IT environment.
  • 25% domestic and international travel.
