Job Description:
As an engineering subject matter expert, the candidate will be responsible for a broad range for refrigeration subject matter expertise for the Walgreens enterprise. Typical assignments will include design, analysis, and integration at the system and component level. The candidate shall have extensive experience developing scopes of work and engineering solutions within operating stores, including scoping for large-scale refrigeration format changes, while working collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines and delivering engineering solutions aligned to a total cost of ownership perspective. Candidate will be responsible for innovations within the refrigeration category.

Requirements:
  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Develops solutions to a wide range of difficult technical problems.
  • Works under general direction and independently determines and develops approaches to innovative solutions.
  • Prepares drawings using computer aided design software (AutoCAD/BIM).
  • Performs complex mechanical design calculations and standard computations, including system flows, pressure drops necessary to size ductwork, piping, and select equipment.
  • Perform refrigeration design calculations.
  • Preparing engineering feasibility analyses with appropriate backup and transparency in documentation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management and/or Engineering OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 8 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management and/or Engineering group.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing and working with construction and engineering practices including budgeting, estimating and scheduling.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with construction plans and specifications.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with engineering/site plan design, including items such as cost and quality control, material/equipment installation, bidding practices, material and labor costs.
  • Experience with CAD Software.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • At least 1 year of experience in building, maintaining and managing (<$0.5m) capital budgets.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with and/or establishing construction budgets and building systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing teams in a matrixed environment, managing external resources, and/or developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

  • Experience and knowledgeable in field installations with involvement in systems-level design and experience working in a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Experience with engineering design in multi-unit healthcare retail facilities with shared building systems.
  • Aptitude for interacting confidently with engineers, project managers, and business owners.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate attention to quality, timeliness, awareness of budget constraints, and other programmatic considerations.
  • Comfortable working to highly accelerated program timelines and committed to meeting project deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and non-technical business partners, internal and external to the organization.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering and/or Professional Engineering licensure.
  • Experience in retail healthcare industry.
  • Experience using Revit.
