Permanent position: Leading manufacturing company is looking to hire a plant Engineering Manager. This opportunity will be located in the Detroit, Michigan area. \r\n\r\nCandidates must have an Bachelor's degree in engineering with a focus on engineering management experience in an automotive manufacturing environment with a focus on PLC's, robotics/automation, project management, CAPEX, new equipment installation, tooling, program management and maintenance experience. Any candidates that have new plant or brown field start up experience is beneficial. Candidates that possess experience with stamping, blanking, laser welding or metal is highly desirable. \r\n\r\nThis role comes with an excellent compensation plan commensurate with experience with a base salary ranging from $100k to $130k plus a 15% -30% target bonus opportunity. \r\n\r\nRelocation assistance is provided. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities for the Engineering Manager
  • Drive all health and safety responsibilities as identified by the company's occupational health and safety program
  • Quote preparation and approval with a key role in the development and execution of new business strategy
  • Responsible for project management including engineering project planning, timely execution and project budgeting for all new and modified equipment and facilities
  • Provide leadership through employee development, performance management and the development and execution of the financial and strategic business plan
  • Mentor technical employees as individuals or as a group through the execution of work projects
  • Lead cross divisional technical innovation projects
  • Manage the capability and performance of all equipment through upgrades, continuous improvements, preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance
  • Evaluate and approve all design changes, specifications and drawing releases
  • Leads tooling and process selection and approvals
  • Establishes and follows-up full program implementation (timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy off, prototype programs, engineering changes etc.) Requirements for the Engineering Manager

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required
    • Experience managing and leading people in a plant engineering environment
    • Strong background in managing projects, CAPEX projects with a focus on new equipment installation
    • Experience leading a maintenance department
    • Solid technical skills including principals of engineering design (CAD, blueprint reading), general knowledge of machining and fabrication, statistical process control, problem identification and resolution, knowledge of the APQP process
    • Automotive manufacturing experience is a must
    • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
    • Experience with PLC's, robotics and automation is highly desirable
    • Experience with stamping, blanking, metals/steel or laser welding is very helpfulBenefits
