Description


Responsibilities :



  • Conceive product design concepts and prepare design layouts (schematics & PCB) for power electronic components and systems
  • Helps identify and resolve design issues.
  • Makes design calculations, design decisions and completes the necessary analysis and computer simulations. Initiate continuous improvement ideas.
  • Works closely with validation engineers, technologists, and suppliers regarding product design, test and production schedule dates.
  • Communicate analysis and design results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
  • Communicate results and making recommendations to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
  • Identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Validating and implementing product solutions
  • Documenting findings in technical reports.
  • Maintain technical currency Position involves working in a team environment on challenging, new product programs that include electric drive technology.
  • Incumbent will support a varying number power electronics projects with a focus on electrical design, analysis and supplier engagement.


Typical Day


Varies, it is a desk job. Time spent collaborating with global team on the phone, meetings, and in the lab as well. Will be eligible for 9/80 work schedule


Education Requirements:


Bachelor degree required in an accredited Electrical Engineering or equivalent Master's preferred but not required Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience


Technical Skills



  • Familiarity with schematic design & PCB layout (Mentor Graphics, Altium) and electrical simulation tools (Ansys Simplorer, PSIM, PSpice)
  • Experience using electronic test equipment for troubleshooting electrical components and systems (oscilloscope, DVM, function generator, etc)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills along with good oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint or similar software office packages
  • University coursework in power electronics or relevant work related power electronics experience
  • Experience working safely around high voltage equipment & components


Soft Skills



  • Must be a good team player and have the desire to work in collaborative environment including field/shop/lab environments
  • Excellent understanding of electrical systems
  • Good hands on and troubleshooting skills.
