The Partner Connection Specialist position is responsible for functional and technical support of existing EDI systems. Additional responsibilities may also include working with our Frontend Development Team and B2B customers to implement e-Commerce Punch-out sites. This position requires strong business analysis, communication, and organizational skills. Requires proficiency in IBM Sterling Gentran EDI Software, RPG software development toolsets including SEU, Interactive SQL, RPG and CL programming and DB2 Database, Microsoft Excel and Word, and relevant business systems tools (System21 ERP and 3rd Party Software). The incumbent will collaborate both internally with fellow Team Schein Members (TSMs) and externally with trading partners, including B2B customers and Vendors (Suppliers).

Participates in end user requirements meetings and provides input for resolution of business system needs.

Develops functional and technical specifications, based on an understanding of business practices.

Designs and delivers the best technical solution to meet the requirements.

? Plans and coordinates EDI activities working with Purchasing, Marketing, and trading partners to implement new EDI transactions, monitor existing transactions, streamline processes, and troubleshoot problems.

? Performs end-to-end translation using hands-on experience in partner setup, mapping, end translation, and processing in the IBM Sterling Gentran EDI Software on the iSeries.

? Develops and maintains programs on the iSeries or servers administered by the Frontend Development Team.

? Develops and conducts testing procedures and scripts to verify the completed code.

? Provides functional and technical support of existing Backend EDI systems running on the IBM Sterling Gentran EDI Software on the iSeries.

? Reviews error messages, program dumps, and other information related to issues received from the Help Desk, Computer Operations, and users. Provides recommendations for resolutions and takes appropriate action to recover and restore orderly processes.

? Documents operating procedures and scheduling requirements of the developed applications for operations.

? Creates and maintains documentation sufficient to ensure the ongoing support of EDI functions, both internally and externally. Keeps all job function documentation accurate and up to date.

? Participates and contributes in effective execution of all Backend Systems Team and company initiatives and/or major business objectives.

? Analyzes 3rd party vendor software PTFs, determines their applicability, and coordinates their integration and installation.

? Performs other duties, which may be assigned from time to time. Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.



? Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

? Demonstrated continuing education in the application of technology to business problems

Work Experience;

Minimum of 5 years' experience in Business systems development and systems administration on an IBM AS400 Computer Systems (iSeries, IBM i)

? 3+ years of large enterprise or e-business systems experience

? Experience with Distribution Systems, Inventory Control, Warehouse Management Systems, Customer Order Processing, Financials, and Pricing Systems preferred

? Expertise in IBM Sterling Gentran EDI Software

? Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment a plus


In depth knowledge of and experience using Structured Query Language (SQL)

? Knowledge of the AS/400 system environment

? Knowledge and experience in RPG Development, DB2 Database on the iSeries

? Proficiency with Control Language (CL) programming and RPG/400 & ILE RPG/400

? Must possess a good understanding of systems and operations

? Knowledge of database structures and data manipulation methods

? Experience with SQL/400 is a plus

? Able to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral manners

? Creative technical problem-solving skills are essential

? Good planning and work-organization skills, as well as follow-through, and the ability to meet deadlines

? Ability to analyze problems/resources and initiate programs/procedures to improve productivity

? Ability to work with minimal supervision
