job summary:

Our Lansing Client has a contract opportunity for a Documents & Forms Business Analyst to join their team. This person will work on a newly formed agile team to support/enhance the document management platform. OnBase and Smart Communication experience are preferred. Prior scrum master, Agile, and Guidewire (BillingCenter and/or ClaimCenter) experiences would be a plus.

responsibilities:
  • Propose solutions for business ideas, suggestions, problems and requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive requirement specifications as part of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to define functional and non-functional requirements that Business Analysts and Developers will use to change new or currently deployed solutions.
  • Work comfortably within both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
  • Define all levels of business and technology requirements.
  • Support optimization of the SDLC process to ensure quality and timely delivery of software deliverables.
  • Collaborate with QA team to ensure traceability between defined test cases and elicited testing.
  • Collaborate with Development team to ensure effective hand off of requirements and identification of requirements defects.
  • Support estimation process which includes business users, development representatives, and testing representatives.
  • Identify and implement optimal process improvements to ensure effective capture of functional requirements for both enhancement projects and defect resolution.
  • Conduct demos of new and upcoming functionality, as needed.
  • Define and enforce acceptance criteria for business requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that business objectives are understood by project team.
  • Assist in prioritization of product backlog items ensuring business priorities and technology advancements are reflected
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings such as sprint planning, scrums, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Lead organization and execution of user acceptance testing.
  • Manage vendor relationships including priority of deliverables.
  • Build relationships with key business unit resources to gain understanding of overall business unit direction.
  • Lead IT activities for large and complex business initiatives using appropriate project management methodology.
  • Perform peer reviews for fellow Business Analysts business requirements ensuring conformity to standards and quality.
  • Prepare status and management reports as required.
  • Responsible for configuration changes in systems.
 
qualifications:

5+ years of progressive responsibility in an IT or business environment with demonstrated technical knowledge which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Experience within the insurance industry highly preferred

 
skills:
  • Working knowledge of business applications, interfaces, network services, and software development.
  • Experience working within both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge of business analysis methods, and/or statistical analysis capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Document Management platforms, ideally OnBase and/or Smart Communications.
  • Strong technical skills to perform analysis and problem solving using a variety of software tools.
  • Ability to be innovative, creative, and think outside of the box when presented with roadblocks.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in potentially chaotic environments.
  • Ability to lead and support resolution of technological challenges such as, work flow, scheduling, testing processes and procedures.
  • Ability to rapidly understand business processes and data flows and develop expertise.
  • Ability to see the big picture related to requirements and fully understands impacts to other areas and project inter-dependencies.
  • Defines and uses Business Models, Process Models, Data Models, Workflow Models, and Object Models as needed.
  • Ability to follow processes and standards for systems or data analysis methods using current (and emerging) industry approaches such as Business Process Management (BPM), Business Process Integration, or Data Modeling with appropriate data warehousing and business intelligence architecture and design methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge and consistent application of departmental procedures, processes and work flows.
  • Ability to create functional documents such as such requirement documents, statements of work, proposals, use cases and other technical documentation standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of the current state of the IT industry related to requirements gathering and documentation.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and processes.
  • Excellent functional and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to lead and support projects using a variety of project management methodologies (bi-modal)
  • Demonstrates practical knowledge and understanding of systems analysis, system testing, insurance business knowledge, and corporate internal processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of organization's business goals and vision.
  • Ability to collaborate with business representatives to define IT demand that meets business goals needs.
  • Ability to translate business goals into IT demand.
  • Ability to understand Business Case, financial & cost-modelling development.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of the team.
