Primary Job Duty: Responsible for global compensation, global benefits and mobility servicesfor ICANN

Position Summary: The Director, Global Compensation and Benefits is a hands-on role that provides an opportunity to manage all compensation programs and processes, mobility services, benefits offerings and analytics designed to help ensure retention, rewards, and a positive and engaging work experience for all staff. This role will work closely with regional colleagues to ensure global alignment with compensation philosophies, all aspects of pay and incentive plans including health and welfare benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, analysis, obtaining leadership/organizational buy-in, development and implementation for all compensation, mobility, and benefits offerings globally through collaboration with HR staff and the appropriate Executive Team Leader(s) to align with the organization’s strategic goals
  • Continually analyze global compensation and benefits policies in relation to similar jobs in comparable industries or geographical areas/market conditions; recommend best practices, outline financial impact and, as agreed, oversee implementation of changes designed to focus on a positive and engaging work experience throughout the organization (healthcare, retirement, etc.)
  • Responsible for the development, administration and ongoing maintenance of policies and programs related to compensation, benefits and systems to ensure they meet organizational needs
  • Stay informed on and advise managers and executives on marketplace trends, relevant laws, and competitive rewards programs
  • Oversee development of education on best practices relating to all aspects of compensation, including job leveling, classification, and career progression for staff
  • Design, oversee, and provide transparency into compensation and workforce analytics to appropriate staff, managers, and executives
  • Provide consultative advice and excellent customer service to managers and HR business partners on total rewards decisions (e.g. promotions/transfers, job offers, relocations) and policy and guideline interpretation
  • Review, negotiate and monitor contract provisions with vendors and service providers
  • Collaborate with Finance on the development of the annual personnel budget
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships within the global HR department and across the organization, with a high level of effective interface with HR team members, Finance, Payroll, IT and Legal
  • Responsible for mentoring, training, performance management, and pay actions reviews for assigned staff to encourage professional growth
  • Other duties as assigned or requested

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Specialized knowledge of systems, compensation, benefits, compliance related issues
  • Understanding of various methods of financing benefit plans and the impact on company financials, accounting, and payroll
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements related to total rewards and systems
  • Effective and proven interpersonal relations a must: particularly tact, sensitivity, professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and planning skills, including demonstrated ability to design and implement effective communications, handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, set goals and enforce deadlines, while maintaining flexibility to reassess and prioritize goals
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems, such as Oracle Fusion, highly desirable
  • Computer literacy, including all Microsoft Office applications and information systems to include manager and employee self-service applications
  • Ability to influence others through leadership of team members and effective consultative advice to management

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience in Human Resources or a related field or a Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience in Human Resources or a related field

  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) and CBP (Certified Benefits Professional) or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) required

  • Proven ability to capture, analyze and maintain pay and benefit practices

  • Global experience and resourcefulness in pay and benefits practices

  • Effective vendor management experience required

  • Flexibility in work hours to enable global interaction

  • Strong market data analysis skills
