Job Description:

As a Production Support Engineer, you will be providing 24x7x365 on-call support for multiple core platforms, globally. The Production Support Engineer is essential to working with internal customers/employees to identify platform problems and advising on possible solutions. The Production Support Engineer is responsible for design, deployment, implementation and execution patterns for the support of internal global customers.

As part of the Core Integrations Services (CIS) Team, the Production Support Engineer will perform design of chosen path (DoCP) activities specific to design, implementation, integration and test activities. The Engineer will also assist with deploying software to upper environments.

Using a "Follow the Sun" model, we expect working patterns for the Production Support Engineer to include on call duty, weekend and holiday season coverage. The Production Support Engineer will be required at times to vary operating hours to ensure coverage for severity level support.

Additional responsibilities of the Support Engineer include:

- Handle and resolve requests for core platforms and activities directly and /or with support from teams within CIS and Level 4 partners.

- Logging and keeping records of customer/employee queries

- Analyzing call logs so you can spot common trends and underlying problems

- Updating self-help documents so customers/employees can try to fix problems themselves

- Working with field engineers to visit customers/employees if the problem is more serious

- Establish good working principals for how to address concerns quickly and effectively.

- As an engineer you may be called upon to work on core platforms and/or its implementation to ensure up to date skills and proficiency on platforms. This may include general application development activities, including unit testing, code deployment to development environment and technical documentation.

- Be able to analyze a problem and choose the best solution in-line with enterprise standards and in adhering to global platform architecture. Tracking of issues through completion, documentation enhancement and reporting

- Contribute to training and self-service support options (blog, forum, internal confluence as needed)

- Help maintain reference implementation of enterprise software stack.

- Keep technical skills and knowledge of Client's enterprise technology platforms and service offerings current by closely working with core engineers

- Detailed knowledge of standards based architectures as they apply across multiple IT platforms.

- Deep, up to date, technical knowledge of mid-range technologies.

- Modern software development lifecycles including Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

- Perform complex bug verification, and beta support for assigned products

Required Skills:

Minimum 5 years C++, with experience using C++ STL

Linux/Unix command line tool experience (vi, sed, awk, grep, top, ps)

Basic engineering troubleshooting skills

Technical communication skills (ability to capture and document details of a technical context )

Nice to have:

Linux administration

Expertise with using Regular Expressions

Basic understanding of various scripting languages (bash, perl, python)

Use of Subversion (SVN)

Use of Jira or issue tracking system
