job summary:

Our client has a 3+ month contract opportunity for a Cabling Tech in Modesto, CA.

Job Summary :

The Technician, Cabling supports the company's cabling needs, delivering viable cabling options that maintain and enhance the network structure. The position completes low-voltage cabling required by the company and directly supports the IT department in establishing and maintaining the network to the stores, distribution centers, and offices. The Technician works closely with the Field Services team and the network team to ensure optimal connectivity with IT functions for all locations.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

- Install new cabling in stores, offices, and DCs between various equipment and the network , enabling communication with the servers

- Troubleshoot cable for connectivity issues and repairs or replaces as needed

- Test and terminate new cabling

- Complete administrative duties in ticket and time recording to ensure accuracy of time commitments and resolution of issues

- Maintain an inventory of cable, parts and tools and reports on the usage of inventory by job / ticket to assist in the maintenance of that inventory and costs

- Responsible for technical supervision of any labor needed assignment

- Drive to and from work sites

- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) :

- Strong problem-solving skills

- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

- Ability to lead the cabling team by job to ensure full reporting for that job

- Strong fact-finding skills

- Ability to lead and work well individually and in team environment

- Knowledgeable in various wiring configurations and terminations

- Knowledge of telecommunications industry and/or installation practices, including but not limited to copper and fiber optic infrastructure cabling methods

- Ability to read and understand construction drawings

- Excellent organizational skills

- Basic Excel and Word skills

Education: Two-year college degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience)

Experience : One year of related experience

Other : Frequent travel required. Must be available to work a variety of shifts - to include weekends, evenings, and nights. Maintain timely and reputable attendance. Must be able to work overtime, when needed.

Physical : Basic office and store environment : ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull, carry equipment, work underneath and above equipment, use a ladder, and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
