The City of Phoenix seeks a dynamic, experienced leader and results-oriented manager, to fill the position of Deputy Chief Information Officer. There is one (1) vacancy within Information Technology Services, in support of the Fire Department’s Technical Services Section.


The Deputy Chief Information Officer is responsible for leading a team to plan, organize, and administer all activities of the Fire Technical Services Division. Work is performed with considerable independence and judgment while working collaboratively as a strategic partner with an Assistant Fire Chief and reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Assistant CIO. The Deputy CIO is a member of the Information Technology Services management team.  The Deputy CIO works closely with all City departments and Information Technology Services divisions to leverage information technology to enhance the delivery of government services to residents, improve interactions with businesses, empower residents through access to information, and improve the efficiency of internal operations. 


The Deputy CIO will manage critical technical infrastructure, business applications, and database environments in support of Fire department operations, the regional computer-aided dispatch system, mobile devices, GIS and network security. Duties include operational planning and customer service delivery, daily operations/production of applications, preparation of bureau budget and control of expenditures, and leadership.

  • Five years of responsible experience in the information technology field, such as data center management, telecommunications, data networking, business application support, enterprise systems support, enterprise service delivery management, GIS, enterprise security, web-based technologies, project management, and strategic planning.
  • Two years of experience supervising professional and technical staff.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.



A well-qualified candidate will possess the job requirements listed above, plus experience in:
