The city of Phoenix’s Information Technology Services Department seeks an experienced, business-oriented and highly strategic visionary leader to fill the position of Deputy Chief Information Officer at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport - America’s Friendliest Airport.

 

This position will be reporting to the Assistant CIO, and will be an integral member of the CIO’s leadership team, while working in partnership with Aviation Leadership to deliver innovative technology solutions.

 

The ideal candidate must be a business oriented strategic partner, who promotes innovative and entrepreneurial thinking that enhances the airport customers’ experience, and increases positive interactions with airport-based businesses and partners citywide. This position will manage a budget of $18 million and oversee a staff of more than 70 technology professionals and support positions. The Deputy will manage the airport’s critical systems in support of Aviation Department operations at PHX Sky Harbor and other general aviation airports managed by the department.

 

Serving more than 45 million passengers per year, PHX Sky Harbor is already one of the country’s largest and busiest commercial airports – and it is currently amidst a multi-million dollar expansion effort. With more large-scale, complex, and exciting expansion projects on the horizon, the ideal candidate must have a desire and a successful track record of transforming large-scale business operations. During high-profile projects, the DCIO’s role will be at the forefront, communicating to stakeholders and leaders the projects’ progress, working alongside city and regional partners, and collaborating with contractors, vendors and airport leaders to ensure that every technology investment is aligned with the vision and goals of PHX Sky Harbor and of the city of Phoenix. A candidate with a business-oriented mindset that can demonstrate an ability to find ways to increase airport revenues is a plus.

 

The Information Technology Services Department prides itself for being an IT leader having received the CIO-100 award six times, and most recently, the 2016 Digital Cities Award.

Requirements

  • Five years of responsible experience in the information technology field, such as data center management, telecommunications, data networking, business application support, enterprise systems support, enterprise service delivery management, GIS, enterprise security, web-based technologies, project management, and strategic planning.
  • Two years of experience supervising professional and technical staff.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.

A well-qualified candidate will possess the job requirements listed above, plus experience in:
