The Market and Investment Risk Technology group supports data and custom application needs of the Risk business groups. The scope of our work includes all phases of the development lifecycle including design, development, testing and production implementation and support. As a member of this team, this position will have direct interaction with business partners and other internal technology delivery and support teams. The results of our work directly impacts business partners by automating manual processes, improving data accuracy and risk analysis accuracy.


A major focus of future work will be to develop data models and implement data movement (ETL) and application features that support analysts' needs. This work is shared by Treasury, Finance, Accounting and Risk business and technology areas. As such, this position will have opportunities to work with technology and business partners in those areas to design and implement coordinated data solutions.


What you'll do:


You'll be involved in the technical phases of data movement & translation and the software development life cycle. You will work closely with business subject matter experts (product owners and business systems analysts) to understand requirements for functional enhancements. You'll model databases, design and develop ETL, support modeling & reporting, testing, assist production releases, and provide post-implementation support.


Example activities include:


- Design and develop solutions using MS-SQL database tools in a shared SQL environment


- Extend existing business systems with feature enhancements


- Create ETL packages, Views and SQL scripts for data analysis and reporting


- Review code, test functionality, and check for policy compliance of others' work


- Provide support for production problems and daily batch processing


- Evaluate issues and provide solutions by collaborating with other engineers


- Occasional evening work promoting changes & fixes to production


- Track the status of issues/tasks (Jira) and provide updates to stakeholders as required


Required Skills:


- Relational database design and development experience (SQL Server 2012-2016 strongly preferred)


- Experience with ETL development in Visual Studio 2012-2015


- Excellent problem solving / investigation abilities


- Ability to work with business subject matter experts (strong attentive listening skills) to translate requirements into working code


- Ability to contribute positively in a team environment and take on project ownership when required


Highly desirable skills:


- Databases: MS-SQL preferred, Terradata useful


- ETL: SSIS preferred, Informatica and Alteryx useful


- Automation: Jenkins and Bamboo


- Batch scripting and scheduling


- Data governance: IBM's IGC and Oracle's EDQ preferred


- Reviewing and testing other's work


- Understanding of Agile and Team SDLC


- Production support experience


- Reporting: SSRS preferred, Tableau useful


- Knowledge of financial institution data and desire to learn about the industry


- Ability to work with several teams for prioritization and perform multiple tasks


- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
