  • Client is seeking a Database Administrator to provide database support on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals.
  • Responsible for taking the lead role in designing, creating, managing and optimizing the full range of required databases in response to user requests.
  • Responsible for more complex assignments, particularly concerning more complex databases.

responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Takes responsibility for the ongoing tuning and optimizing of existing complex databases.
  • Works with IS application areas to define and implement security profiles and administration.
  • Designs and implements enhancements to existing databases.
  • Works on extended assignments to debug or fix major database problems.
  • Performs logical and physical data modeling and transaction analysis.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive library of all supporting documentation, and initiates corrective action to ensure all database servers meet or exceed processing requirements for performance and reliability.
  • Manages effective working relationships with the internal customers from a variety of IS application areas.
  • Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts.
  • Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performance.
  • Perform and manage system and database backups.
  • Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems).
  • Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure.
  • Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching.
  • Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching.
  • Provide on-site database and system support.
  • Provides key expertise relevant to the more complex databases.
  • Develops specialized expertise in setting up databases for analytical (vs. operational) use.
  • Takes responsibilities for the ongoing tuning and optimizing of existing databases.
  • Works with IS application areas to define and implement security profiles and administration.
  • Works on extended assignments to debug or fix major databases problems.
  • Works with all types of project teams (including analysts and business designers) to design types of databases required to meet user needs.
  • Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure.
  • Responsible for more complex assignments, particularly concerning more complex databases.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor other DBA's as necessary. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
  • 8-10 years experience required.
  • Experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution
  • Strong knowledge of SQL.
  • Understanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes.
  • Understanding of support agreements and their implied service levels.
  • Proven ability to write excellent technical documentation.
 
qualifications:

Hands-on experience in configuring/supporting Bi-directional replication using Golden Gate to support Zero downtime migrations.

 
skills: Requirements

  • Experience consolidating/migrating DBs in Cloud at customer Exadata machines.
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle RAC on Exadata/ODA, Multitenant (CDB/PDB), OEM 13c, Golden Gate, Advanced Security, Database Vault, Partitioning, Oracle ZFS backup appliance, service configurations.
  • Hands-on experience in configuring/supporting Bi-directional replication using Golden Gate to support Zero downtime migrations.
  • Strong experience and background with Oracle technology covering all aspects of managing a database from logical design to physical implementation covering OLTP and DW designs.
  • Experience with advanced techniques like Instance Caging, I/O Resource Manager (IORM), Database Resource manager (DBRM) to manage to desired SLA is required.
  • Solid Experience with tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c, and Solar winds for tuning Oracle databases.
  • 3+ year experience with performance tuning databases for Oracle implementations.
  • Experience in optimizing VLDB (300+ TB) backup/restore process by leveraging read-only tablespace and automating routine DBA tasks.
  • Proven experience to perform in a fast paced demanding environment.
  • Good understanding of SDLC processes for database & application development.
  • Ability to work well in teams with good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
