Our Team Member Technologies (TMT) group is looking for a Database and Solutions Analyst who will be responsible for supporting multiple MS SQL server instances and databases, monitoring and managing data inventory and reporting for system health of a high volume, 24x7, mission critical, high-visibility application and tools team. The position would be involved in all technical aspects of the system, including but not limited to application monitoring, responding to questions, researching issues, representing the application on production calls, participating in development projects, and supporting application and database change deployments. This person will perform a variety of duties on a day to day basis including monitoring production and lower environments, providing technical support and troubleshooting, providing application and database maintenance, query tuning, optimization, and ETL and maintenance, job scheduling and monitoring and managing security access across the application and reporting data environment.

Candidate will be responsible for fulfilling complex and varied end user data and process requirements, identifying and defining strategic business issues that require further analyses then translating this information into greater insight, knowledge, and understanding of the operational needs of the organization. This position will partner closely with small teams of Enterprise Inventory & Reporting (EIR) consultants to perform complex analyses/analytic design work involving data feeds, data mining and modeling in support of critical and ever-changing customer requirements. This position will also partner with Production Support (PSSP) and the Application Engineering team (AEIS) as needed to analyze, enhance, and improve overall database performance across the EIR group. Responsibilities may also include participating in and/or leading information capabilities development work, presenting results of analyses and recommendations to management. Core responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, analyzing, designing, implementing controls for the organization's databases to ensure adherence to corporate data management regulations and policies
  • Managing, packaging, scheduling, and promoting approved code and schema changes between operational environments
  • Identifying tactical and strategic solutions regarding the data used within the organization.
  • Performing moderately complex server-class database activities across various platforms including one or more of the following:

    • business requirement identification and analysis
    • conceptual, logical, and/or physical database design
    • data modeling and/or mapping
    • moderate to complex programming and coding to automate and/or support the database environment
    • performance monitoring and tuning
    • analyzing database metrics and assisting with capacity planning
    • testing, configuration and execution of installations, upgrades and migrations between servers
    • Implementing, monitoring, and maintaining security controls.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and data quality
  • Provides production support for technical issues and initiatives related to applications, systems, databases and reporting
  • Troubleshoots and resolve issues and restores services or data impacted.
  • Evaluates service level agreement criteria; identifies gaps in current technology processes and recommends changes to assure SLAs can be supported.
  • Evaluate or review queries used within application or to extract data, create standard databases, or perform limited programming to fine tune systems supported
  • Updates/writes documentation and procedures, creates and/or provides related training, creates change or issues logs and writes/designs test scripts
  • Analyzes performance trends and recommends process improvements when identified
  • Assesses changes for risk to production systems and assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported areas via accepted change control processes.
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance, and testing of the business continuation plan

    Note: May be required to work outside of normal working hours to implement scheduled change controls and help resolve critical database issues.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of database design and administration experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • MS SQL Server SSIS, SSRS and SSAS experience
  • Build, modify or reverse engineer SQL queries
  • Experience with server infrastructure, migrations and capacity planning, business continuity planning
  • Experience and familiarity with current enterprise data sources, in particular those relating to asset management, compliance monitoring, workflow tracking, and enterprise methodologies and controls.
