Duties:

The nature of the work is focused on the company's computer and telephony technology tools used to create, store, exchange, and use all forms of information. Optimize the capability of the IT infrastructure and services to deliver cost effective and sustained level of application availability. Develop complex tools and processes in the support of continuity management. Executes tests for system continuity. Design, test, and implement monitoring tools and processes. Write procedures to respond to results so system issues are brought to resolution. Collect metrics over a long term for trending. Performs complex work to install hardware and software taking proactive steps to assure success. Devises process and procedure for applying and maintaining security settings and user access based on technology platform. Recommends improvements as indicated based on analysis of current techniques and perceived imperfections.


Individuals within the Data Scientist role is responsible for modeling complex business problems, discovering business insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. In addition to advanced analytic skills, this role is also proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets,architecting specialized database and computing environments, and communicating results.


Data Scientists work closely with clients, data stewards, project/program managers, and other IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions.


Other responsibilities include providing data that is congruent and reliable. They need to be creative thinkers and propose innovative ways to look at problems by using data mining (the process of discovering new patterns from large datasets) approaches on the set of information available. They will need to validate their findings using an experimental and iterative approach. Also, Data Scientists will need to be able to present back their findings to the business by exposing their assumptions and validation work in a way that can be easily understood by their business counterparts.


These professionals will need a combination of business focus, strong analytical and problem solving skills and programming knowledge to be able to quickly cycle hypothesis through the discovery phase of the project. Excellent written and communications skills to report back the findings in a clear, structured manner are required.

Engineering and data modeling skills in PaaS solutions


Tuning, maintenance, resizing competencies


Versed in multidimensional elasticity concepts


Expertise in Snowflake solution software


Versed in all components of the data warehouse -- storage, compute, and a meta-analysis and management layer


Education:

Typically requires a Bachelors Degree and minimum of 6 years directly relevant work experience Note: One of the following alternatives may be accepted: PhD or Law + 3 yrs; Masters + 4 yrs; Associates degree + 6 yrs; High School + 7 yrs.
