Data Management & Insights (DMI) is transforming the way that Wells Fargo uses and manages data. Our work enables Wells Fargo to empower and inform our team members, deliver exceptional experiences for our customers, and meet the elevated expectations of our regulators. The team is responsible for designing the future data environment, defining data governance oversight and partnering with technology to operate the data infrastructure for the company. This team also provides next generation analytic insights to drive business strategies and help meet our commitment to satisfy our customers financial needs.

The Data Management Solutions Services (DMSS) team within DMI is a new and growing organization. The teams mission is to enable enterprise data governance capabilities such as Report Mapping & Issue Identification (RMII) Metadata Management, and Enterprise Data Quality Monitoring (eDQM). The team manages these capabilities in alignment with the enterprise data strategy, technology architecture, policies, and other data governance needs across the Wells Fargo enterprise.

Reporting to the DMSS Cross Platform Services Leader, the strategy consultant will develop and implement strategy for one of the following DMSS functions: RMII, Metadata Management, or Data Quality.

Responsible for providing principal level strategic consulting services to client organizations utilizing comprehensive, in-depth knowledge and expertise regarding Wells Fargo business strategy (enterprise-wide) and emerging trends in the industry. Partners with executive management across Wells Fargo to define the business strategy and create/execute corresponding business plans and initiatives. Has responsibility for the identification of strategic business, investment and alliance opportunities; evaluation and approval process of identified opportunities; identification and implementation of technology requirements (systems, architecture and infrastructure) as well as coordination of technical resources; and communication of strategy and related business plans to management. Directs internal as well as industry strategic planning activities and represents Wells Fargo on industry boards and committees.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure function meets strategic objectives and manage against proposed timelines/project plans
  • Define and establish strategy for executing approach to meeting strategic objectives
  • Develop and maintain short and long range strategic plans across all work threads
  • Identification and analysis of dependencies and opportunities for efficiency
  • Oversee development of presentations to senior leaders, executives, audit, and regulatory agencies
  • Partner with the risk & regulatory data program office to ensure alignment of strategic objectives
  • Oversee financial planning activities and coordination with the risk & regulatory data program office
  • Implement program management capabilities for DMSS work threads, including but not limited to, risk management, status reporting, etc.
  • Enable development of DMSSs strategic approach by providing insight leveraging organizational and industry best practice knowledge
  • Implement and oversee onboarding/off-boarding processes and procedures for the DMSS work threads, including space management
  • Responsible for the management of individuals and matrixed teams focused on strategic planning activities
  • Locations: Preferred Charlotte, NC; Phoenix, AZ; Minneapolis, MN: San Francisco, CA

    8+ years of strategic planning experience3+ years of data management experience3+ years of budget management experience2+ years of information technology experience4+ years of program management experience3 + years of senior leadership experience collaborating at the executive level4+ years of experience conducting project meetings, presentations and status reporting1+ year of compliance and regulatory systems experience

    Other Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management and serve as information resource to executive leadership.
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to create and deliver presentations to executive management
  • Strong variance analysis skills
  • Works with executives and senior managers across Wells Fargo to help define the business strategy and create/execute corresponding business plans and initiatives.
  • Provides leadership in the identification of strategic business, investment and alliance opportunities; evaluation and approval process of identified opportunities; identification and implementation of technology requirements (systems, architecture and infrastructure) as well as coordination of technical resources; and communication of strategy and related business plans to management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
  • Provides guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Knowledge of Wells Fargo businesses and systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization
