Job Description

This Analytic Consultant 5 will combine an advanced analytics skills set (including existing use of Big Data environments and tools) with data engineering and modeling expertise. They will need to source, qualify and interrogate large data sets and be able to extract learnings through the application of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques. Key competencies should include:

  • A strong inquisitive nature, backed up by the ability to use advanced tools and techniques to form and interrogate large data sets
  • Flexibility, positivity and motivation, to work in groups ranging from formal multi-disciplinary teams all the way through to solo efforts that may sometimes involve limited direction or requirements
  • The ability to acquire, accumulate and assimilate knowledge around business, product and operational processes, in order to build up a three-dimensional understanding of the data, how it is created, used and what it means
  • A high level of attention to detail, recognizing differences and similarities between sources, implications from upstream changes and publishing approaches and delays

Data Management and Insights (DMI) is transforming the way that Wells Fargo uses and manages data. The team is responsible for designing the future data environment, defining data governance and oversight, and partnering with technology to operate the data infrastructure for the company. This team also provides next generation analytic insights to drive business strategies and help meet our commitment to satisfy our customers financial needs.



Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling
  • 5+ years of data analysis experience
  • 5+ years of experience with databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL server, or Teradata
  • 5 + years of experience gathering, analyzing and interpreting large datasets
  • 2+ years of Big Data experience



Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret large datasets
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging data platforms and analytic tools Hadoop, Aster, and R
  • Knowledge and understanding of report analysis: specific to performance and incentive plan measurement feasibility and effectiveness
  • Exposure to Wells Fargo CASPR (sales tracking, incentive compensation) application
  • Strong analytical and technical skills



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques (e.g. multivariate data analysis, regression, PCA, time-series analysis).
  • Understanding of machine learning techniques, like decision trees, random forests, neural networks, SVM etc
  • Strong acumen diagnosing and resolving data issues to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience with DMI Analytical Databases (BMG, MDSS, EIW, C2T, Hemisphere, etc.)
  • Financial services experience (Retail, Wholesale, Brokerage, Wealth or Insurance)
